Anyone disagree?
Got to agree. What was Sean Welsh thinking? Play to the whistle is a pretty fundamental concept.Butler punching out the ball and recovering the fumble was probably the best play of the game. It was worth 7 points. Butler has picked up some key first downs this year. ..
I'm just glad we have three running backs that appear pretty good and one supehero (Akrum).
Butler punching out the ball and recovering the fumble was probably the best play of the game. It was worth 7 points. Butler has picked up some key first downs this year. He has also got stopped behind the LOS a few too many times. He does seem hesitant at times, like Jon Miller has noted. But its true that we can't yet compare his work against the Freshman running backs.
Young and IKM were running against a gassed defense in the second half because Iowa had long drives and I think North Texas wore out with all of the creative scheming it was doing to stop the run in the first half. They both looked good, but its not the first time we have seen young running backs look good against a tired defense in the second half of an inferior opponent.
That said, IKM hits the hole quicker for sure. He has home run potential. Young is a more physical back than Butler, but perhaps a bit slower. They all have there strengths.

I will tell you. Kelly-Martin is going to be difficult to keep off the field. I don't care if the defense was gassed or not, trust your eyes, when he makes a decision to cut and go, it's immediate...and he's a load. Both those touchdowns were impressive. I'm concerned Butler's injury is alot more serious than KF thinks...that was ugly. Kelly Martin is going to be the benefactor of Butler's injury...which is unfortunately. I think this kid is going to be very, very special.
How about this recruiting class: Epenesa, ISM, Kelly Martin, and Smith certainly looked the part yesterday...big WR.
Butler is a solid RB. He doesn't seem to be the quickest or fastest guy. (I was kinda surprised by Youngs burst that big boy can move) But he's a solid RB that obviously picked up the playbook quickly. He's as team first as it gets and wanted to be a Hawk. I don't have a bad word to say about him. The youngsters both have quite the pep in their step. Young looks like he needs to run with his eyes a little bit more and not be in a hurry to cut it up. But that dude should be good and Kelly-Martin is pretty fast when he hit the hole. But am I ready to say Butler is below them? Not yet there's more to it then just who's faster and we haven't seen enough of any of them yet to decide that I don't think
Don't forget Wirfs.
He looked great in his limited time. I dialed in on him when he came in for his first play. I could hear the contact from his first play 65 rows up. Absolutely buried 2 North Texas defenders on a zone run to the left. He belongs. Couldn't believe how quick a guy for his size was getting off the football.
Butler still has problems picking up the blocks. Which may be the same problem for the other two. Young and Ivory look like they are going to be a nice tandem next year.
What's up with Akinribade?
