Bullock > Weisman

Now, I know this is going to be unpopular, but Damon just provides so many options. His ability to be patient as holes develop, and to be a receiver out of the backfield, give us with so much more dynamism offensively. Weisman was fantastic when the O-line was opening holes the size of Humvees, but those holes have shrunk as Big Ten play has begun. As a one-two punch, they're great, but Bullock has impressed me every single series he's played. I can't say the same about Weisman.

Bullock did look good, but I will reserve judgement for a bit. I do like the idea of Bullock and Weisman in the game at the same time. Not that it will ever happen.

Which series did Weisman disappoint you? The ones after his injuries? I do agree though...using them as a 1-2 punch would be outstanding...especially since the passing game is awful. Hit them with a battering ram to wear them down and then hit them with a shifty Bullock or let Bullock get them out of breath then hit them with the battering ram...either way can work....wunders...

They are totally different runners. I would love to see both in the backfield together with Weisman as the lead fullback. It would really give dees something to think about. Bullock and Weisman can both catch. Just need a QB that can get them the ball. Wish they would put Canzeri in the slot to get another playmaker on the field.

Weisman was banged up. Coming off a high ankle sprain and not long into the game they had to wrap his thigh. I agree that Bullock impressed, he had patience and was agile. This could be a deadly one-two punch when Weisman gets back to 100%.

Second that. Weisman's success was 33% his ability to hit the hole quickly and break tackles, 66% o-line play.

I didn't mean just this game. Since the Big Ten season started, there have been a number of times when Weisman was ineffective, even during the Michigan State game - preinjury - where I thought that Bullock would have given us something - namely vision - that Weisman didn't. Don't get me wrong, though, I still really, really like Mark. Damon's my #1, though.

I think its hard to compare the two. While Weismann can break arm tackles, Bullock is shiftier and cuts much better. IMHO I like bullock back there, but would rather have Weismann in the red zone or on short yardage situations. I also think Bullock's a much great receiving threat.

But, like CF suggested... why can't they both be in at the same time? Thunder and Lightning has worked for others, why not us?

Bullock is a better running back than Weisman. But Iowa can use both and that is certainly one thing to look forward to. Both can get quite a bit better, especially Weisman. Bullock has a real nice shift to him and is deceptively tough.

Bullock, Weisman, Scherff (currently praying he'll get back in 2013), Blythe, Van Sloten, Walsh, Donnal, and maybe even MacMillian with a good luck SR year are the Hawkeyes only hope in the near future.

Hell, if Iowa had a QB that could make simple throws and an offensive coaching staff not suited for Pop Warner, they would be on to something.

Since I've been complaining about situational subbing I will give credit where credit is due. Bringing in Bullock on 3rd and long on the field goal drive was a great call. Even better was when they brought Weisman in on 3rd and 1 and ran the qb sneak. That was a great way to mix it up to get the D off balance and it worked perfect. If we continue to use them that way they will be an awesome duel threat.
