Buffalo Bills interested in Kurt?

I heard from a homeless guy shouting at traffic today that Buffalo is more than likely going to fire head coach Chan Gailey in January, and one of the replacement candidates they are considering is Kurt. Apparently owner/President Ralph Wilson and GM Marv Leavy are both mid-western BoneG guys, and they hold Kurt in pretty high esteem. They don't want prefer to hire an established head coach, not a coordinator, and they prefer a guy with Belachik ties. They also do not want to bust the bank to hire a guy like Cowher or Gruden, and they have their doubts that a big name NFL coach would want to go to Buffalo anyways.

At first blush, it seems crazy, but if you take a look at the guys Buffalo has been hiring (Gailey, Dick Jauron, Wade Phillips) they are certainly not a team that looks for young, energetic, up-and-comers. Also, if Kurt doesn't see the light at the end of the tunnel, he probably realizes if he leaves now, he can take Brain with him, and probably snag up James to Buffalo too.

I don't know how legit any of this is, but it is certainly food for thought...

KF won't walk away from the guaranteed money that is owed him at Iowa... he'd be nuts to do this and the be out of a job within 2 years. This is probably a derived rumor from his agent to drum up some support after his commandeering a sinking ship.

I don't think Kurt is a guy who is all about the money. He has always been a "What's best for me and my family" guy. He clearly is not having fun this year, and maybe he is getting burnt out with the losing and the scandals and will jump if given the chance. He has made a ton of money, all of his kids have grown up, and he can prolly take most of the clan to Buffalo if he wanted. The cash that he has in the bank now will last longer in Buffalo than it would in Iowa City. It is also only 3 hours away from where he grew up.

I thought it was absurd when I first heard it, but the more I thought the more sense it seemed to make. I usually destroy gais who post rumors like this, but I wanted to know if anyone else heard it too, so I posted it.

Sounds like a reliable source....I'll help him and his QB of the future JVB pack and drive them to Buffalo

If true (doubtful) it just shows you how incompetent some of these NFL franchises are.

Wade Phillips > Gregg Williams > Mike Mularkey> Dick Jauron > Chan Gailey > Kirk Ferentz!

Yeah that is a natural progression.

I have not heard this. And although they may be interested in Kirk, is Kirk interested in them?

I don't think he'll leave Iowa until his youngest graduates. Just my opinion.

Kurt looks liek he's aged 10 years since the Insight Bowl. This year has clearly kicked his butt. I couldn't help but think that the might be Lute-ing due to the pressure of being the man.

Great...now hes going to be offered another 2 year extension. KC might be an option as well but I think Scott Pioli might have to worry about his job and if hes gone Kurt probably isn't considered. I also have to agree with the hes not leaving the land of no responsibility but him in Buffalo is a fantastic dream.

I, for one, don't have any doubts about a homeless person's NFL sources. Good work, Ghost.

Pics of Homless guy for authenticity's sake plz....

Update, FWIW, the guy who keeps telling me he has the inside scoop on this, Ken, told me he has confirmed that Buffalo reps have reached out to Kurt to gauge his interest, but no formal talks will proceed until after the NFL season is over. Pending a late season collapse, Buffalo will more than likely retain Gailey as coach, but they are entertaining replacement possibilities.

I do not see kf as a good nfl coach. Much too fast and business like for him. If and when he does go it will be a short stop.
