Bucky Badger predictions

Since Fran got to Iowa City, the games vs Wisky have been all close contests. Fran is 3-4 against Bo with his largest defeat being by 5 points, and his biggest margin of victory being 7 points. It has also been a game of streaks. Fran lost his first matchup with Becky by 3 in OT. He then went on to beat the Badgers 3 games in a row. Becky Badger has returned the favor by winning the last 3 matchups.

It is time again that Iowa gets a couple good bounces and beats Becky, as losing 3 really close ones is bound to balance out at some point. Iowa gets this one in Madison 63-61. What say you for tomorrow's game?

I simply haven't seen more than about 5 minutes of Wiscy all year. No idea if Jackson being out is as crucial to them as it would be if we lost a White or Uthoff, or if it would exactly us losing one of current Gs.

Wiscy always seems to handle the late-game pressure against us, but maybe our recent games and resisting "el foldo" will push us over the top, a la Nigel Tufnel turning it up to 11.

If it were 5 on 5, Id give Iowa a better chance. We all know it'll be 8 on 5, so if the Hawks pull this out it's a hell of an accomplishment.

Before I predict I need to know if JO & PJ are going to be hitting their 3s. We are a tough out if they are. Iowa by 6. If not Wisc by 8

This.

It wasn't as if they were going to run the table and go 18-0.....Defend your homecourt and go .500 on the road.

Wisky 72
Iowa 63

I hate to be Debbie Downer, but the schedule-makers got us on this one. Wisky had it's last game on 1/15 and ours was 2 days later. We have a quick turnaround AND have to go on the road. Basically, that gave Fran only Sunday to prepare whereas Bucky gets 4 days and the home court.

Normally, I like how Fran plays Wisky. I would also be optimistic about their point guard being out. I just think Wisky will be much better prepared for this game than we are. Maybe we will at least be ahead at halftime... :)

I still think this whole season is gonna be 1 step forward and 2 steps back. We just took a step forward. So I'm gonna say UW 72, UI 63.

I think we will get them in IC.

You have it backwards. It's 2 steps forward and 1 step back so far.

OSU - W
NE - W
MSU - L
MN - W
OSU - W

I suspect this trend will continue tonight thanks to the 2 extra days of rest and prep time for Wisconsin. But I won't be surprised if Iowa wins. Jackson is a key player on this team IMO. I don't think they will miss him as much at home but will miss him a lot in their road games.

Edit - I thought maybe we would have an advantage a week from Saturday but no such luck. Both Iowa and Wisconsin play this Saturday and don't play again until they face each other a week later.

Very cautiously optimistic. We need 40 minutes of basketball and they have got to hit some three's. I know Wiscy will get theirs just try to avoid the big runs. Play good defense and don't give up to many open three's.

Wisconsin seems to be more consistent than Iowa during the season. Wisconsin hasn't had as tough as schedule as Iowa though. It would be nice if Iowa won their next three games.

I feel confident enough to pick one certainty that Jarrod Uthoff is going to go light Badger up tonight..

Agree totally. Losing @Wisconsin would not be a step back at all. Nothing to lose, everything to gain in this one.

I do concur with the 72-63 loss prediction though, or something along those lines. I expect Iowa to keep it close, but Wisconsin will probably pull away a bit in the second half. Just really difficult to win up there. That said, Fran's Iowa teams seem to play Wisconsin pretty tough, even in Madison (win or lose). Plus Wisconsin is less than 100%, so you never know.

I compare it to Iowa St. They lost at Baylor (a middle of the pack Big 12 team), playing completely uninspired basketball (seemed like a HS team could beat them that night). Then, they play Kansas at home and beat them in a fairly close game. What happens? They move up in the rankings.

I will be watching the game, and hope like heck we win, but given how we've fallen completely apart in the second half against good teams I'm not super optimistic. I think we keep it close, maybe even have a lead at halftime, and then end up losing by double digits. Hopefully we can reverse that trend, but we've looked awful in the second half against the best teams we've played. Ohio State and Syracuse are solid, but I don't think they're on the same level as MSU, ISU, and Texas. Maybe we'll see the team finally play a full 40 minutes against its best competition.

I think Wisconsin is going to be all over Jered Uthoff. Hopefully, Jok and Oglesby will have good games.

Good luck with that, I just don't think they will be able to stop him. His length is going to cause Badger problems all night long.. Uthoff 17pts 7 Rebounds 2 blocks 3 assists..

GO HAWKS!!

Iowa 74
Wisconsin- 71

I hate college basketball road games so much but on the other hand, we're road warriors this year. I think the Badgers win and I don't think it's going to be too close (lose by 12 or something like that) but God this would be a huge win.

Bobby Hansen just said Wisky has been charged a total of 35 fouls in their B1G games at the Kohl Center.

The opponents have been called for 69.

WTF?

I hope the Hawks pull this one out - their backcourt doesn't scare me as much as the teams Iowa has lost against. Their top scoring offense in the Big does though.

If the Hawks go cold Iowa loses by 10, 78 - 68. If the Hawks stick with them, it's a toss - up - 72 - 71 good guys.

We Iowa fans need this win tonight.

MSU is nowhere near as good as they played in the second half. They are probably pretty similar to OSU.

You're shocked by this? As been saying in every prediction about this game, it'll be more of the same, tonight and will be very instrumental in why the Hawks lose.
