Bucky Badger predictions

Since Fran got to Iowa City, the games vs Wisky have been all close contests. Fran is 3-4 against Bo with his largest defeat being by 5 points, and his biggest margin of victory being 7 points. It has also been a game of streaks. Fran lost his first matchup with Becky by 3 in OT. He then went on to beat the Badgers 3 games in a row. Becky Badger has returned the favor by winning the last 3 matchups.

It is time again that Iowa gets a couple good bounces and beats Becky, as losing 3 really close ones is bound to balance out at some point. Iowa gets this one in Madison 63-61. What say you for tomorrow's game?

I still think this whole season is gonna be 1 step forward and 2 steps back. We just took a step forward. So I'm gonna say UW 72, UI 63.

I think we will get them in IC.

It will be close again, Wisconsin-71, Iowa-67, actually too close to call......we have to defend the perimeter in order to win....

Basketball is a game of match-ups. I feel we do not match-up well with Wisconsin. They have a great home court advantage and their students will be brutal. Uthoff will be tested mentally...not sure he is ready. To me if he scores 12+ we win, if not we will lose. I just feel he is the key to Iowa right now.

Tough call on this one....I think Bucky has a bit too much at home. Bucky by 6.

But I do think we get them in IC.

I'm not impressed with this year's badgers. I like Fran's approach when playing them. That combined with some better ooc experiences this time around before playing them.. I'm not seeing this team bothered one bit by playing at their place. 67 - 62 Hawks, 2nd half heart flutters included as usual.

Wisconsin is not a deep team at all, especially since Jackson got hurt. Expect every single Badger starter to log over 30 minutes unless they get into foul trouble. Iowa should run them up and down to tire them out and then attack them inside to try to draw fouls....something Iowa has been really good at doing lately.

If Iowa can get Kaminsky, Dekker or Hayes into foul trouble then their chances go up drastically. Feed Gabe inside, let White take guys to the hole, and crash the boards.

The fact that Wisconsin is favored by 10 is ridiculous. I don't see how Iowa doesn't cover that unless they just implode like they did against Michigan State.

I'll predict...Iowa by 3 just because. 68-65

I live in Wisconsin. I love when the Hawks beat the BADgers because I hate hearing the fans here because they are one of the worst fan bases. I wish I could predict iowa 199 wisconsin 0. I have iowa 76 wisky 70 and then all of the drunk idiots will make excuses about why Wisconsin lost because they are sore losers

Iowa 67
Wisc 59

The loss of Jackson hurts Wisc. Iowa's front court will match Wisconsin's. Uthoff sticks a dagger in Bo's face.

Iowa will lead. Then Iowa will give up the lead (because Fran thinks that 2nd shift is still a viable line up). Iowa will come back to within 3. Then the refs take over. (Usually don't blame refs because they usually suck both ways in the B14. However, at Kohl and Breslin, there's clear bias.)

As posted yesterday, hoping Hawks 58 - Vadges 53. Expecting V's 60 - Hawks 51.

That's what I'm seeing. 9 to 12 pt Connie win. I don't know about the home game yet. We'll see what happens tonite.

I think its all about how we come out. If we can come out hot and quiet the crowd we've got a good shot. That said, we have to be ready to avoid allowing a big Wiscy run in the second half. They get a comfortable lead or go on a run and get the crowd involved in the second half we may be in trouble.

I wish there was a way to combine the play of our bigs. I think this is one of those games where Woody sees the bulk of the minutes early on but we could definitely use Gabe's ability to bring the team to life offensively with a put back or transition dunk or defensively with a block to silence the crowd.

Very cautiously optimistic. We need 40 minutes of basketball and they have got to hit some three's. I know Wiscy will get theirs just try to avoid the big runs. Play good defense and don't give up to many open three's.

I'd love to see the basketball gods put lids on the home teams rims like it did when we went to UNC. Not sure if we'll ever see an opponent shoot that poorly again on their home court but man it would be nice.

This.

It wasn't as if they were going to run the table and go 18-0.....Defend your homecourt and go .500 on the road.

Wisky 72
Iowa 63

This post makes absolutely zero sense. Explain to me how winning @Minn, home vs OSU and becoming nationally ranked is 1 step forward, but losing a road game to a top 5 team when you are 8+ point dogs is 2 steps backwards?

I'll correct that for you, it is zero steps backwards. A home loss to NW or Rutgers would be 2 steps backwards.

As for the game, I think it will be close for 20-30 minutes. But given that Wisconsin is home, I think they will pull away in the 2nd half. The Hawks do match up well though, so I won't be shocked if Iowa is able to pull off the upset.

Agree totally. Losing @Wisconsin would not be a step back at all. Nothing to lose, everything to gain in this one.

I do concur with the 72-63 loss prediction though, or something along those lines. I expect Iowa to keep it close, but Wisconsin will probably pull away a bit in the second half. Just really difficult to win up there. That said, Fran's Iowa teams seem to play Wisconsin pretty tough, even in Madison (win or lose). Plus Wisconsin is less than 100%, so you never know.
