I'll be honest... You're an idiot if you jump think a team ranked #12 halfway through the season will be on the bubble after 2 losses, one on the road to a middle of the pack team and one to a top 10 team in the country.

Never said we would be on it..but we would've been feeling really worried as a fan base losing that game man...don't deny that for a second. Thank god we pulled that out so this discussion can drift away.

Moot point now. Gutsy win. This Iowa team is not tough? Well they found some intestinal fortitude the last few minutes of this one. Gutsy effort - they got Illinois' best shot. That building has been a house of horrors... HUGE win, even if Illinois is not playing well this year.

For 1 night, i agree. Gesell played very well the last 4 minutes of the game. He was a factor both offensively and defensively , and if we are going to go anywhere he will need to be a factor. Overall a very good win, considering the blown lead. any win on the road is good obviously.

I agree. Iowa would not have been on the bubble even with an L tonight. I think our stock would have started dropping, though.

I think the thing is that there is so much parity nowadays, that almost any team is a 4 game losing streak from being on the bubble. So far iowa has shown the ability not to go down that road. Hopefully that continues. I think however we are finding out that the Big Ten may not be as good as many had hoped for. Northwestern a 3 game road winning streak? really?

I'm the biggest Iowa fan you will meet..I've seen many games go the way this one was going towards the end..forgive me for starting this thread. I honestly was 99% sure we were going to lose with 5 minutes left. If we would've lost, I would've felt very insecure about the rest of the season. If we couldn't beat Illinois on the road..how would we beat Penn State, Indiana or Minnesota on the road?? This win was big for multiple reasons
