It's so nice to not be part of this annual event. All we have to talk about is a couple subpar games, winning the Big 10, not playing until Friday in the Big 10 Tournament, our NCAA seed and whether we get to play in Chicago after playing in Des Moines. It's much less stressful.

I think it's more stressful with what Iowa has on the line

As a fan, I have absolutely nothing on the line. This year has been enjoyment all the way around.

As for the players, my guess is they're much less stressed out knowing they'll have a chance to compete for the conference/national championship. Much preferred to being out of contention or wondering if you've done enough to make the dance.

I remember the threads where all of teams we were competing with for spots were listed. And it was updated each day with who to cheer for that night. And there were the threads about who had to win or lose to help our RPI.

This year we are discussing game sites, seeds and a conference championship. And the negative posts are worth a good laugh. The team is exceeding my expectations but should be exceeding expectations by more. Ridiculous stuff...especially when the new inflated expectations are still attainable!

I mean absolute worst case scenario Iowa is probably what...a 6 seed? 7? Is that the worst case we're looking at? In the past 5 years how many times would we have taken that with a smile on our face?

Its all about perspective. No matter how good or bad we do, people always demand more.

My prediction last March was 12-6 so we only need 2 more to exceed my expectations. And I never dreamed we could potentially play in Des Moines. We play at Wells Fargo once a year and some of our guys have played their since high school.

#1 / #2 seed bubble talk > #67 / #68 bubble talk.

I'm enjoying while I can.

When was the last time we talked about 1/2 seed? Heck, even in the 2006 flame-out, we only got a 3-seed because we won the BTT. Going in, we were about a 5 with a "chance" to get to a 4.

We LITERALLY need to lose out to drop below a 4. We'd have to self-impose a post-season ban to miss the NCAA tournament.
