BTN Big Ten Hoops Preseason Power Poll

we haven't earned anything yet, so why wouldn't we be figured into that spot. sure, we'll be better overall, but i don't think it will be some huge change in record.

i'm afraid some folks around here are setting themselves up for a huge disappointment. still going to be a couple years before we can talk tournaments, IMO. i'd LOVE to be wrong on that, though.

Sixth place or better. Heck even Alford finished sixth or better at least once or twice. Thomas.......... Unless I see I will not believe. Faith is the substance of things hoped for but not seen. Yah, I know, I know, we are talking about a lot of faith here......but I BELIEVE!!!! Can I get a Hallelujah! Sorry, been in Georgia too long.

6th place is where I have us finishing. We will be squarely on the bubble heading into B10 tourny. 6th place is also a kiss of death because iirc we will play the 5th seed in our first round - MSU, Michigan or PU would be my guess. If we win, we are in, if we lose (likely) then its NIT bound.

He's talking about the B1G tourney. That being said, I'm not sure that's still the same with 12.

In any bracket if the top seeds win in the first round the 4 always plays the 5. The 6th seed would be destined to play the 3rd seed if it beats the 11 seed.

Now that the Big Ten has 12 teams only the top 4 teams will have byes. For the 5 seed that is not always a bad thing as usually it is a bubble team and an extra win playing the 12 can help.

if this team ends up 11-20 yikes look out

With the additional experience (and Fran experience), I will be shocked if we don't reach at least .500 overall. We should see substantial improvement. That being said, a NIT berth would be a great prize for this season. NCAA's are in the future, but my guess is a couple of years away. We've got to get the 12' class some experience first.

My preseason power rankings of the Big Ten:

OSU
MSU
Mich
Wis
Ill
Minny
PU
NW
Iowa
IU
Neb
PSU

Of course, this is pre-season. Will change by the end of the non-conference slate, probably.

We all know PSU is the big turd at the bottom, the question is which one of the little turds (Iowa, Nebraska, IU) floats up to the top.

We'll finish ahead of Indiana. As Bill Walton would say, they are terrrrible.

Or as Charles Barkley would say turrrrrrrrrible.

Also, I think Purdue is highly over rated right now. They lost 2 NBA players, who knows what hummel is going to be like and one of their big men quit to play football, and Barlow was kicked off the team.

That is significant.
