CHICAGO – BTN will televise 12 primetime games during the 2013 college football season, the most in network history. Five games feature a pre-season top-25 Big Ten team, while three of the 12 matchups feature games versus teams from the SEC, ACC and Pac-12 conferences. Eight Big Ten schools in all will be featured in prime.

“Primetime games are becoming more and more popular,†said BTN President Mark Silverman. “Featuring compelling matchups in primetime allows BTN to remain front and center in Big Ten and college football fans’ minds throughout the entire day,†he said.

Highlights of the schedule include a pair of Nebraska and Northwestern games and one with reigning Big Ten Champion Wisconsin, with all three teams listed in many pre-season top 25 polls. Other key games include BTN’s first ever night game at Penn State, as well as Syracuse at Northwestern, Missouri at Indiana and UNLV at Minnesota. In addition, Illinois takes on Pac-12 opponent Washington at Soldier Field.

Both Sept. 7 and Sept. 14 include three primetime games. When BTN airs more than one game at a time, fans can go to BTN.com/GameFinder to determine the channel number for the game they want to see.

In total, BTN will televise 47 football games this fall. Start times and television arrangements for other early-season games will be announced at a later date.

Maybe when the hawks "arrive" in 2014 the hawks will get more PT exposure. fly under the radar this year.

So ...

Wyoming (coming off 4-8 season) @ Nebby is more intriguing than BCS bowl participant N Ill @ Iowa on 8/31?

Also, good to see W. Mich getting more BTN night games than Iowa has had in 2 years. At least there will be ample film available on them so they will be well scouted. No loss to directional Michigan team this season!

All in all, what's to complain about. I don't see Ohio State or Michigan getting any BTN night lovin', either.

NIU at night would have been fun. But I think all games are fun, so I'm fine with zero night games. In fact, I love 11am games. Bring 'em on.

Isnt night games when they pack in the recruits? There are few places that compare to Kinnick during a night game. I think not having a night game is bad for a program that needs a little bit of sexy.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess those two teams are going to be on ABC more often than not, or ESPN at least.

I guess it's like the basketball program and it's non-conference games being on BTN.com all the time - start winning more games and being relevant, and the networks will treat you accordingly. Iowa had a lot of games on ABC in 2010 when they were ranked and had won the Orange Bowl the previous year. Following a 7-6 and 4-8 season, I wouldn't expect much "prime time" football.

That said, I guess I'm not sure who or what dictates what time the games are played (day vs night).

I wouldn't consider any of those games "primetime" worthy.

I don't see it as a major issue that Iowa doesn't have a primetime BTN game.

There is zero exposure for BTN night games. The only people who watch them are the fans of the teams themselves. I forget most of the time they even have a game at those hours. 99.9% of the country is tuned into the ABC primetime games, ESPN and ESPN2 at that time.

for sure. no loss for exposure, but I do think it is great to bring recruits in for night game.

My 2 thoughts....

First, that list of night games on BTN is awful. Will not be watching much, if any of those.

Second, night games are a great tool to use with recruiting though. Big time prorams have multiple night games evey season.

As a fan though, I'm not getting tickets this year, so it doesn't really matter to me that much.

The rewards of 4-8 and if you're a recruit showing some interest in Iowa you want to see them play as much as possible, BTN or any other TV media. To say there is no downside is Hawk rationalization to the higher end.

This is all Ferentz's fault. We need to get rid of this guy...he's bringing the program down. No wonder we can't recruit top athletes when we don't get the night game exposure. He's failing everywhere.

Ok, I just wanted to get that out there first. Hopefully this will satisfy the KF hater extremists.

So Iowa wouldnt have a night game if they were good last year?

Iowa and Kfed don't deserve a night game this year you reap what you sow.

The last night game at Kinnick was pure embarassment. The beat down Penn State put on Iowa that night was unreal, half the crowd was gone by mid 3rd quarter. JVB was at his best that night, LOL.

A couple thoughts. Stick with me folks...

There's no night games on BTN scheduled for Oct 5th or Oct 26th. Is there a chance the Mich St or Northwestern game gets picked up if both teams are doing good at that point? The start times for games are usually fluid up to 2 weeks out.

Second thought... Iowa is the only team in the B1G that doesn't have a night game scheduled. I don't necessarily believe this is a product solely of a 4-8 season. Perhaps this is a bit of a stretch, but is it possible the Barta and/or KF suggested no night games to motivate the team?
