Pur nobody at center 6'10 or taller

i did some looking and found these players listed by height and weight and grade, by looking at this i don't see but 2 maybe 3 that are heavy weights, so to those that say Olaseni is to skinny look again, Olaseni 6'10 220, oh bye the way looked up Juwaun Johnsen BTPOY 6'10 "216" a real heavy, not to mention most of those are fr

We should be fine at the 5 spot. If our 3 5s play some D, rebound, run the court well and get the occasional garbage basket, we will be sitting well at this position. I think our 3-headed monster can do that in an acceptable way... If we can foul appropriately(this will improve from last year) and ball handle well at the 5, we will be in even better shape.

The other 4 positions are where it's at...

Olaseni should be able to work his way into the 5 spot, with little pressure . If he plays D(rebounds) and runs well, we will be just fine at the 5, AB has to stay on the floor(if he does that) he'll have a nice senior year.

Sherman does not play for MSU, he transferred to Notre Dame.
And you have a bunch of the classes wrong.
The real issue is Olaseni's game, it's not very polished.

Colton Iverson transferred to Colorado State. I get where you wanted this to go, but without accurate info, it doesn't hold much weight.

i took this directly from the rosters posted on thier sites, i just grab name out of the air, if the rosters are posted are wrong i cannot tell, i only coppiead what was listed, also if you look closely there are a lot of FR out there and i suppose you are goibg to tell me their FR are mor polished than our freshman

Agreed about his game. He's a big guy, and stands out around campus. He also has a decent build though, for a freshman.

I think Gabe is going to surprise some people this year. I think he is further along than previously advertised and will play significant minutes.

Andrew Jones of PSU graduated last year.
The Illini will have their highly rated 7ft sophmore at center.
Michigan will have their sophmore, jordan, at center again.
Sully will be at center for OSU again.

The league lost a lot of good wings and guards last year, but only JuJuan Johnson among centers. Iverson was just ok.

If I had to rate them:
1. Sully
2. Michigan guy
3. Payne
4. Sampson
5. Illini guy
6. Mirkovic
7. Zeller
8. Bergrenn
9. Brommer/Gabe
10. Neb,PSU and Purdue...unknowns.

This will not be a position of strength for Iowa, but it does not have to kill us either.
The position is not super-strong in the league, imo.
7.

Sullinger is a pf not a c, but my point is they are not monsters size wise, and i still stand by the fact JuWuan was only 216 lbs and did quite well

If you consider Sullinger a PF, you have to consider JuJuan a PF as well...

since he played power forward most of last year and the announcers for the game kept referring to him as a power forward then i think it is safe to expect him to be a power forward, and again you are making the assumption that Olaseni is not very good because of a lack pf stars, so please take the blinders off to the fact not all good players have to have a lot of stars to be good, Basabe was a unranked 3 * and has done quite well

Please, please stop trying to sell something that simply is not there right now. I really don't know how much of a fan you are if you don't know that Jordan Morgan or Myers Leonard play the 5-spot for their respective teams and the fact that Andrew Jones graduated, plus Iverson and Sherman are gone from their teams.
Olaseni is not ready to be in the spotlight for a good team. He is ready to potentially emerge as a starter for Iowa, only to be a back-up his sophomore season if Iowa is able to secure Woodbury. There is a role for Gabe, one that involves little offense and a whole lot of defense and rebounding, he is not quite ready, but for a poor Iowa team he may very well be. This is not a knock on Olaseni, it is reality, I do not care how many stars he has, or doesn't, but he is a project with limited basketball playing time. Projects are good, especially if they can become a Hansen type player. The potential is great, but he isn't ready to be a major contributor.

Also, Jared Sullinger plays Center, he is 6-9 and 270 lbs, he is not a PF, maybe if he slims up some more and gets in better shape. Sullinger gets position by using his body, he is not an explosive player, he utilizes his basketball IQ. Sullinger has talent to go along with that, but he is not the athlete that most PF's are and probably won't be.

There are some quality centers in the BIG, unfortunately, Iowa doesn't have one on their current roster that would be a solid starter, which is why I would like to see Olaseni learn by playing and let Brommer come off the bech where he is most comfortable. Iowa's frontcourt will have problems matching up against teams with a lot of size, but if Woodbury comes in with Meyer, match-ups will not be a problem after that.

Yes, Basabe had a nice freshman season, but he struggled against size and really needs to expand his game, utilizing the 12-ft jump shot. Basabe needs to work on some solid post moves and also, not turn the ball over so much and work on his passing. He had a nice year, but there is a ton of room for growth.

so what makes you think Woodbury would be the automatic starter other than he has the stars, i will try to make this simple Olaseni was not rated because he didn't play during the summer evals, until he played last [fall - spring] nobody knew that much about him, if not for Katenda Fran may not have noticed him, it was Katenda that was the star of that team so people watched him and paid little attention to Olaseni, it was Olaseni who was named Defensive MVP of the National Christian Acadamy Tourny, if you dig you would find that he played in Europe and as a jr he put up 38 pt 18 rbs and 9 blks in one of his teams tourny games,, again he never got evaluated so as a result he never got ranked, on his team he was not required to score as Katenda got this job, his job was to rebound and play defense, so please don't put the kid down without doing some research, i at least research a player before jumping to a conclusion, as for Sullinger his road to the NBA will be as a pf, 6'9 players are not and never will be centers

Exactly, not a whole lot of time to add muscle and bulk.

then i guess since you are the all knowing GOD of basketball you better tell ESPN, Rivals and Scout to change their listing as they all show him as a F not a center, and since you see the stars and only the stars, i will leave you to your dillusional GOD of Basketball knowledge, and leave you with a tiny idea, look up the kid and do some research before belittling a kid

Dont think anybody is putting Gabe down, It's hard to tell with freshman bigs, so hopfully he's a pleasant surprize and a contributer(on both ends of court). I could see him playing both 4 and 5 at times, Hell give us depth, def,and lenghth.....it'll be trail by fire.
