Brust is the real deal

I will admit I was of the "no need to lose sleep over Brust going to WI", but the dude is a flat out sniper. He hit 7 3's against UNLV today and is one of the best pure shooters I have seen in quite a while. His $ if he gets an open look.

most shooters are snipers "if" they get a look
and why do we care about a Wisconsin recruit
that ran like a coward from his SIGNED LOI from Iowa

I watched as much video of Brust as I could back when we were recruiting him. I didn't see much from him nor did most of the services in and around Chicago. IIRC the kid wasn't even 1st or 2nd team all-state his Sr season.

When he decommitted from Iowa, I was cool with it because he appeared to be a typical Lick recruit - slow, unathletic shooter who was very one dimensional and had slow feet. I, like most, was wrong. He's having a great year for Wisky but he is also playing on a team that has a bunch of athletes around him. If he was at Iowa, he wouldn't be having the year he is right now. Oglesby is a very similar player but has an inch or two on Brust. Next year once we get some better athletes and more true pure position players then Oglesby will be able to sit back and light it up from the outside too.

I figured Brust could score it at this level when Iowa was recruiting him. My problem with him was he was 6'2 and did not strike me as a "go to guy", Iowa had guys who could spot up and shoot, I was lacking play making. I think Oglesby is probably the same player Brust is but taler, longer and maybe with a touch more foot speed. Brust shines due only having to worry about spotting up and shooting. I am sure if Iowa could get Jordan Taylor as the PG our spot up shooters would look a lot better. Then you can add the talented big men Wisconsin has and it's a great place to be a scorer/spot up shooter.

Jordan Taylor is very, very, very good and he makes life a lot easier for all players around him.
