Broncos fire HC Josh McDaniels

I'm wondering how much ridicule owner Pat Bowlen was getting to cave and appease the whining fans in Denver. Warning to the faithful, be certain of what you truly wish for. I liked McDaniels, albeit not at first, but he did come into a rough situation where wins v losses was not good to begin with and then to face all the insubordination early on... I would of thought he'd be at least given another year to carry out his system and his draft choices.

Otherwise, what was Bowlen thinking to begin with when he hired such a young unproven and untested coach? Maybe there was more to this spygate II thing than is in the media. not thrilled with having to start the rebuilding process all over again, but then again if success is measured by W's, then he certainly was not successful this year. Go Broncos!

A team that moves up to draft Jesus Tebow in the first round has problems that run far deeper than a head coach.

Rumors have been going around for several years now that Bowlen's losing it, mentally.

You have to wonder if this is just more proof of it.

I don't think there was any rebuilding done under JM; The Broncos are actually in worse shape personnel wise than when he took over; Silly drafting, even worse trading; a bratty dispostion of non tolerance, that hurt with his running off several key players; job was too big for the man. Losing 17 of your last 22 games (not sure of exact numbers) will tend make most fans whine.

I beg to differ on the talent. They are much better off today than they were with the team left by Shanny (with possible exception of Hillis-who was nursing injuries). Orton may not be a top NFL qb longterm, but he certainly exceeded most expectations and apparently has a much more humble attitude than Cutler. But then I was never much of a Cutler fan even before McDaniels. I think think Tebow was a bonus pick in 1st round so he is as of yet truly untested, but I think he will carry on just fine. The biggest problem for McDaniels, was that he was also directly in charge of football operations in addition to HC, which obviously made it an overwhelming weight on an untested coach. The good news is, that once again, the fanbase may have a chance to come back together. Denver being such a huge sports town deserves that.

I have not heard about Bowlen's personal health or slippage there of. Unfortunate if true, but, he definitely realized that changes had to be made and pulled the trigger.
