Brommer An Important Piece

Here's small portion:

We read about guys leaving programs often these days. They're unhappy with playing time or the head coach. They're not getting what they feel is a fair shake.

Then, there's Brommer. He busts it when he gets his chance in games. He applauds young guys taking his minutes.

"He's adjusted to his role and how the new guys are playing and he doesn't complain," sophomore guard Devyn Marble said. "He comes into the game and gives us a lot of energy and solid minutes."

Nice article on Brommer. Sometimes it is important to take a step back and appreciate the little things that guys contribute to the cause.
Maybe they are not so little tho. Stability off the court is critical to keeping players around also. The last two years have been a refreshingly stable period with no player turnover.

You have to respect Brommer because he busts his butt (ok, I don't really know his work ethic but it takes a lot to be a student athlete so you usually have to have a strong work ethic to do so) and it's ultimately for "no reason" as he doesn't play much and it's for a team whose peak was the NIT but he still stuck around even after the coach who recruited him left and remained on the team.

I don't know how much impact he had on the team or the program but it's hard not to respect him. Just because he's not as talented as someone like Gatens doesn't mean you can't call someone like him a true Hawkeye.

You have to respect guys like Brommer. I am thankful for everyone we have on the team this year.

I remember when Gatens was on his streak of 3s and every time he hit a 3... You could see the guys on the bench explode. When you have guys like Stubbs, Archie, Brommer, etc. that work their tails off in practice, do what they are asked to do, and show that level of excitement and support for their teammates and never complain about minutes(as far as I know)... It does more for a team than I think most people realize, including me for quite some time.

Those players make the Iowa Hawkeyes better. They may not score or contribute a lot on the court during games stats-wise... but they are every bit as responsible for the success we have been having. They contribute in a different way.

I remember watching a gopher game where one of the guys made a hustle play and NO ONE on the bench stood up or gave him high fives when he came off the court right afterwards. The announcers even talked about it.

Having guys like we do on the bench is important for the team chemistry and unity.

I'm glad Brommer got an article and got some minutes in the spotlight for his crazy full-court shot.

This Iowa team and all of its seniors deserve to walk away from this season feeling proud.

Give 'em hell!

Cully Payne and Anthony Hubbard say, "Yeah, that's been great."

Also, CG, the difference between Stubbs, and Archie and Brommer is Stubbs isn't on scholarship. The reason Iowa is playing in the NIT and not the NCAAs is because of poor distribution of scholarships over a four year period, that goes for players who have left and some who didn't.

All right this hit a soft spot for me. So if I can't make fun of Brommer when he's out there I guess I'll just have to pick on May.

Get bent troll.

Sorry if you don't like the truth, but the guy said two years without any player turnover and there have been two scholarship players that were enrolled in courses that left during that two year period. IDK if you have another term for it, but that would seem like turnover to me.

But, don't let the facts get in the way when you have verbal abuse and ad hominem attacks at your disposal, right?

My bad. Let me re-state that. We have had no turnover in players who have worn the Iowa uniform under Fran since Fran arrived 23 months,15 days,4 hours and 12 minutes ago....better?

You don't have to be a ***** evey single day,ya know?

Yeah Caar, neither of those players you mentioned played a single minute under Fran. Payne was a Butler Way kind of player that did not want to play in Frans system and Hubbard did not even make it through the summer. I know he was taking courses but Hubbard would be more like someone who backed out of their LOI.
