Bring back Tucker...tonight!!

One of the AAU coaches I have contact with up in the cities actually stopped by my office yesterday, he was down in the area on business. We were talking about Battle, Taylor, Tucker, and all the kids from the cities the past few years.

As I've stated on numerous occasions, this AAU coach was never high on Tucker's attitude when he was younger, he was one of Anthony's biggest critics (there were a lot of them in the TC area). Yesterday he said to me that he felt Tucker still has the chance to be a special player in the Big Ten... hopes he gets himself right because he has the game. He said that kids are going to make mistakes and that even 10 years ago this stuff never made news but because of the Internet and the ways news travels coaches are forced to come down harder on players nowadays. Probably not that useful info, but I always like talking to this guy and picking his brain. He was also very excited to hear that Brommer was getting more PT. When Andrew played for 43 Hoops under Chris Carr, his PT went almost non-existent and he really faults the lack of Andrew's progress in the summer time to that. Likes his energy and says Andrew is a smart guy on the court, just needs more help from a staff that can give him time.

Lickliter hinted that Tucker is close to returning, and once he gets reinstated, it's not going to be a conditioning thing, it's going to be getting back in the flow and earning your time back sort of thing. I was thinking he'd be back on the bench by end of this week (my prediction a few weeks ago) and then maybe seeing time mid-Feb. But I am not sure now.

I thought Rob Howe mentioned that Tucker would be returning to PRACTICE later this week. I doubt we see him on the floor until later next week.

The problem is we are a better team without him.

I disagree....this team needs scorers and the kid can score. I for one am a little shocked by all the folks that think we are better off without him. The kid has a sweet jumper and is deceptive in getting to the basket. I think if he sticks around here for two more years he will average about 14-15 pts per season in his junior and senior years.

From what I saw before his 'incident' he usually liked to just shoot the ball.

He either couldn't play or didn't like to play defense. Iowa doesn't play much defense the way it is so maybe it doesn't matter if Tucker plays again? It isn't like we will be losing a lot on defense.

Except Lickliter put him on the opposing team's best player... so, that's worth something. The only guy to light him up was Ahlegbe. Tuck held his own against everyone else.
