Brian Kelly "I'd rather play Coe College"

I think you mean "Brian" Kelly.

What's ironic about that statement is that it has happened.

I'm a Coe grad and used to keep an eye out for interesting Coe history items and ran across an original ticket stub from a Coe-Notre Dame football game in 1927, and bought it.

Amazingly enough, I believe the game was actually tied at the half before ND pulled away.

Here's the actual quote:

Q: Notre Dame has played almost every single Power Five team. I think there’s only eight left that Notre Dame hasn’t played and Iowa State is one of them. Is that something exciting to you to play against another team that Notre Dame has never ever played against before for the first time?

KELLY – “I’d rather play Coe College. No disrespect to Coe. I’m going to get a ton of Coe grads that are going to beat me up on this one.

Thanks, fixed it.

I think that is the one major college job that might potentially entice Bobby Stoops to come out of retirement (and i note that he is coaching that XFL team)

Of course there's always Urb, but his name is going to become white hot for NFL jobs when the axes start swinging next week.

These are the best bowl games...I can say the winner is overrated and I'm thrilled with that the loser lost.

I'm thinking an Iowa State win will be more unbearable...so...initially...I'm rooting for Notre Dame. Then I'm sure the inevitable distaste for doing that will force me to start rooting for the Clowns.

I don't know what to think about this game.
I thought about checking and placing small on ND to win, but I don't like teams going into bowl games with coaching changes.
Same with the PSU- Memphis game.
My instinct is to take ND and PSU, but something doesn't feel right and there could be an upset.
I especially don't like a team with coaching changes and saying something like this.
ISU could very well win this one.
PSU will either blow the doors off Memphis or will eek out a 3 point win., I just don't think there is much in between.
PSU had a banged up qb and didn't exactly have their foot on the gas to finish the season against Rutgers.

I didn't realize how familiar Kelly was with Cedar Rapids. He did Coe College a HUGE favor by mentioning them, it's probably the most press they've ever gotten on a national stage.

Remember Coe's Carey Bender? Sports Illustrated did a feature on him back in the day. He tore it up in D-3 football at running back. Even Hayden Fry said he wished he had recruited him.
