Brian Ferentz will not be in the press box.

So the guy points out that Iowa has 18 draft picks over the last 6 years to Nebraska's 17. First off, those 6 years outside of one year have been pretty Meh. Most any other 6 year period under Ferentz you have more than 1 top 10 finish. Secondly lets look at what talent each school brings in, who should have a much large number drafted into the NFL?

'10 Nebraska #22 ranked class Vs Iowa #42
'11 Nebraska #15 vs Iowa #30
'12 Nebraska #25 vs Iowa #43
'13 Nebraska #17 vs Iowa #53
'14 Nebraska #32 vs Iowa #59
'15 Nebraska #31 vs Iowa #58
'16 Nebraska #24 vs Iowa #42

I have long ago learned to not look too closely at Iowa's recruiting rankings. I just assume they are actually about 10 spots better than what a recruiting service says (as they seem to hit on 1-3 lowly ranked kids per class), and Nebraska's is about 10 spots worse than it says. While Iowa does a great job developing kids, I think they do an even better job of evaluating kids and seeing the talent that others don't. You can't just make any kid into a NFL player, they have to have enough God given talent to make it. Iowa is good at finding those kids that others miss. I would say this about all positions, EXCEPT WR that is.

I made this point to several Sker beat guys about NEB having basically an average of a top 25 recruiting class during that time and Iowa having an average around the low 50's ... oh - and Iowa winning 3 out of the last 4 and all that noise. None of them were having any of that context
