Brian Ferentz stubs his toe, then steps on his D$CK

He's basically Rudock without the ability to get into Med School. The question is will the coaches demote him like they did JR? I wish last year they would've forced game-day competition between him and TW so there was no doubt the best was on the field.
There's no Beathard on the team this year. That's a big difference.

Agreed that will be the narrative next year when he takes every snap. But remember, when Rudock struggled the story was always, "Our starter gives us the best chance to win." I also remember who was on the bench when Vandenberg was taking every snap. So I'm a little skeptical whenever I'm told, "There is no one better on the bench." I remember seeing Weiting takes lots of snaps, with Fant standing on the sidelines. You can tell me he is a better blocker or whatever, but I won't buy that Weiting over Fant makes any sense.

Really tired of just flat out underachieving IF the coaching staff has their heads out of their ass why did Fant not play snaps in NW game then play the first 25 plays in the Illinois game. Jon and Deace are right...don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining.

Agree that was the narrative when Rudock was starting every game, but no one believed it. (I also note that was true with McCann over Banks and Christensen over Stanzi, and in both cases, people didn't buy that either) And, the fans were right in each case. I also agree that next year that will be the same narrative, I just don't think that in general people will not believe it in the same way they didn't believe it with Rudock, McCann and Christensen. The little I've seen with Mansell doesn't make me think he's the better QB, although with another year, that could change. (All of this is given the presumption that Stanley really struggles).

I get where you're coming from. But wasn't Stanley allowed to grow thru his mistakes last year because we would reap the benefits this year? Tate; Banks; CJB, they all had some mobility. Stanley is a plodder. Mansell has the dual threat ability that I think makes Iowa offenses better. It's another thing our opponent has to prepare for.
BTW, tho the sample sizes aren't scientific, Peyton has a higher completion rate and better Yds/A. The truth is for all I know Petras or Padilla could be the two best QBs next year. I think Stanley has the arm, just not the head to put this team on his back. The 3 guys I mentioned above could do that. And I think this time next year the team will have at least one better choice than NS. But I respect you seeing it different.

I honestly believe that if Stanley plays inconsistent against Nebraska and in the bowl game...the QB position is up for grabs in the Spring...legitimately up for grabs. This is no different than the Rudock / Beathard discussion. Now, I don't think, at this time, we have a CJ Beathard behind Stanley...but you have open this up the way Stanley has played.

You expect your junior QB to make the plays in the big games with the games on the line. Instead, it was the opposing QB doing it...and we had no answer. I don't want to hear it's a team game crap. The difference this year, is that he had time to throw the ball...that excuse is off the table. He didn't deliver...end of story. You can't sell this thing any other way...or come to any other conclusion. We had guys open...he had time to throw...in the big games late in the fourth quarter...we went no where...other than Penn State...I guess. Then, well, urine down the leg is all we delivered.

We could have the next coming of Joe Montana win the back up job next year and he still won’t get any snaps .
