Breaking down and predicts the ISU Game

Our Defense vs. Their Offense: Should be a little closer then last year as we lose two starting LBs and a CB, but we still have a huge advantage. Our DL is one of the best in the country and will limit Robinson's yards and eat up blockers for the new LBs to make easy tackles. The superb ends will virtually take away any running from Arnaud. Biggest area of concern is the secondary but our great safeties will clean up anything Hyde mess up and Arnaud is an inaccurate passer prone to INTS (2 vs a NIU and 4 last year in the Iowa game). Expect a ton of spread by the 2nd half as our D eats up the run and then expect Austin to get smacked around and throw some picks, the backup will be in by the 4th.

Our offense vs their Defense: A huge advantage for us again. ISU loses 5 starters and gutted their D line. The young but talented Iowa O-Line should overwhelm defenders and pave the way for A-Rob and Hampton to pick up big gains. When Iowa goes to the air there is simply too much for Isu to cover. DJK, McNutt, Davis, Sandeman, Reisner, etc. are better then any player who will assigned to cover them and this doesnt even consider superfreshman CJ Fed. Expect ISU to play off the WRs and Stanzi will dink and dunk at will down the field.

Final estimation ISU has nowhere near the talent of Iowa. Iowa will have long drives down the field and will shut down the ISU offense all day. As ISU takes more chances in the 2nd half the damn will break..
Iowa 35
ISU 3

I think that Iowa can win this game. I also think that you are drinking way too much cool-aid.

I will make a prediction now but may change as the week goes. If Prater is out I think this game could be closer than folks think. I also think J Hampton and A ROB run wild on this D.

Iowa wins 30-21 .......for now

Seriously? You see ISU putting up 21 vs the Iowa D? Or do you have Stanzi throwing a couple pick 6's?

I'd be very surprised and disappointed if the ISU O puts up more than 13 vs our D.

My prediction
Iowa 24 - ISU 10

Iowa State hasn't proven they can score a touchdown on the Iowa defense and with argueably the best Iowa defense in years I don't see it happening again.

Iowa 31
ISU 9

Actually, Hawkize, ISU has proven they don't NEED to score a touchdown to win this game. 15-13 ring any bells?

For the record, I'm picking Iowa to win 31-16.

Iowa State scores on their first drive, and on a fluke. Iowa is up 21-14 going into the 4th.

I think ISU will score a couple of TD's. I just dont think our D will play up to its potential in this game. fds

I think Iowa will turn the ball over and keep ISU in the game for 3 quarters. I also think ISU will score a TD for the first time since 2006 (I think).
Iowa 27
ISU 13

I would LOVE to see 55-0 at Kinnick this weekend. I would also LOVE to have a million dollars....

Iowa-31

ISU-10

Iowa dominates with their Defense and Stanzi and Company comes out fireing...we saw it last year. They know its a huge game and Kirk will have them ready

Iowa-28

Clowns- 3

Stanzi 20-25 256 yards 3tds ;) count on it

Not scoring a touchdown wins you VERY FEW football games. On a rare occasion, you win an odd game like the one in 2007. But if ISU has any realistic hope of winning, they'd better figure out how to put the ball in the end zone at least once, if not twice.

This is where I'm at. And I don't think the final score will indicate how close the game actually was. I see Iowa getting a TD and FG in the fourth quarter.

pretty pathetic when clown fan points to a game where they won by not scoring any TDs......I suppose that is trying to cover for something a little more obvious....

The only way this isn't close, at least for the 1st three quarters...is if Arnaud pulls another interception fest (or an equal fumble-fest). ISU cannot survive multiple turnovers on the road against a top 10 opponent..be that Iowa or someone else. That said, if ISU has net positive on turnovers in the first three quarters, they may actually be winning this game at the start of the 4th. At that point, anything can happen.

The more likely scenario is that ISU scores a little early, but Iowa's defense becomes smothering by the 2nd half and Iowa pulls away for the win.
