Breakdown of 2011 FB Schedule

You wont pencil the NW game in as a win until we beat them because of past performances but then say this? That doesnt make any sense.

Until proven otherwise I will put the NW game as a loss and the PSU game as a win.

I didn't say we would lose. But that's going to be a tough game, and we have to lose to them some time. So I have no problem with people being worried about it.

Im not going to chalk up L's to PSU until they start beating us again. PSU is the team that I think we match up extremely well with. They arent going to spread us out and I dont think they can beat us with McGloin or Bolden under center. That is a team that just does not worry me.

As of late two things are pretty much a given; Iowa loses a game in September and also loses to Northwestern.

Until the Hawks show me different I will bank on these two losses in 2011.

That said, I want to see the spring scrimmage before I make a prediction on the overall won loss record.

Sorry to the "woe-is-me" crowd, however, provided that the 2011 D can remain adequately healthy ... I see little chance that the 2011 Hawks do any worse than 8-4 during the regular season.

While the 2011 squad might not look as good as the 2010 squad "on paper" ... the 2010 squad also got hammered by adversity. With a little luck swinging in the direction of our Hawks ... a very nice season is pretty darn possible for our Hawks.

Folks may not "get it" however it's possible for the 2011 squad to technically be the "inferior" team, at least on paper, and still end up having the better record. It wasn't that long ago when Ferentz stated that the '09 team could be better than the '08 squad but not have the record reflect that fact. The same logic an also apply in the opposite context.

Anyhow, the more I break down the 2011 squad, the more cautiously optimistic I get about or chances.

I don't necessarily expect it, but I could see the Hawks winning the division. There is no dominant team in the Legends division. The teams to beat in the B1G are OSU and Wisconsin at this point. The Legends is a crapshoot.
