Brands - best coach in country

It's really hard not to like his attitude, unless you root for PSU, Minn... He prepares these guys like no other coach can. His coaching stats are unlike any other. That guy definitely bleeds gold. Great thread!

What makes you believe that McCauley can beat Kelly? I"ll agree with Alton being able to compete right away. I'm saying that this elite stud can't beat , Marion, Russell, Thorn, and Kennedy, the bigger studs.

I never said we don't have talent. We have piles of mulitple time state champs in Iowa that aren't good enough to wrestle for the Hawks. We keep the best in-state talent usually and pull in a great national class. I think that Brands gets more out of them than anyone else would.

To my untrained eye Meeks is the states best hs wrestler. We're definitely not a lock to get him (I think b/c of scholarship money). That said if he wants to be a national champ he has the best odds of acheiving that under Brands.

In any sport.
And it's not close.
He's pushing to win his 4th title in a row.
He just won his 4th undefeated Big Ten season in a row.
His teams haven't lost in 74 matches.
His team was ranked around #12 this year and expected to do nothing. I doubt many would say this team isn't a huge threat for the NC.
If he's doing THIS, THIS year, with this level of talent... well, I don't need to spell it out.
Next year this team will only be better and the year after that...
He's got 3-4 guys who haven't sniffed the mat that I think will be phenomenal.
He's beaten perennial powers OkSt and MN back into submission.
He beat MN and PSU on their home mats this season in super-harsh and tough environments when no one gave them a chance.

Dude is just incredible.

Very, very tough to argue. So I won't. I love Tom Brands. Anything he ever needs...

Well take a look at their credentials. after this year McCauley will probably be a 6x finalist and 5x state champ. 5x Fargo medalist, 2x champ. 3rd at Fila Jr. He has 184 pins in high school and is probably going to be the #1 overall recruit this year. Now I don't know who will win if they wrestle but to look at their past a better question would be what makes you believe that Kelly would win??

as far as Alton goes, i wouldn't consider those guys bigger studs as much as i would older studs. I would bet that he will have as good or better resume than most (maybe outside of Montell) by the time they all complete college. now, one thing holding him back will be Cael of course though....

The best thing about Brands' teams (and Brands too) is that there is never any of this self-congratulatory BS. There is never any of this good-enough attitude. Nothing is perfect and there is always room for improvement. When his teams do something he doesn't like... he looks ****** as hell and focused like a laser beam. When Cael's teams lose, he looks like his dog died and he has no answers. When Pat Smith loses he just whines.
