Brandon Simon commits to Iowa

Not sure how you and others know he was beating 4/5 star kids in that video since they never mentioned star values for any of the kids in the video. But might as well ***** about something.

But since you brought it up, can you explain why schools like Bama, OSU, UM, FL, Miami, FSU, USC, TX, ND, and all of the other historic teams in college football, keep winning NC's while laden with such horrible talent as 4/5 star recruits?

There are misses on rankings in both directions, but on average and over time, star values do matter.

Because, when you can get a bunch of 4 and 5 stars, every single year, you're going to be good. You are absolutely correct when you infer that, on average, 4&5 star players are going to better.

Here's the thing, we have never been and it's extremely unlikely that we will ever be laden with 4&5 star recruits.

Yes, star values matter. When you're not a blue blood (or a currently Hot team), you go for select highly rated recruits when you can, but you're not gonna have your choice of them, and your very very rarely gonna get the ones the blue bloods want.

Alabama, OSU, and the like have a number of 4,5 stars that don't pan out every single year, luckily for them, they have 5-6 more that probably will.

We All would like, and should expect better recruiting....but other than outlier years, "better" recruiting will probably be in the range of 25-40 ranked, and we are still going to have to rely on development.

Again, you are correct, take 22- 4&5 stars, line them up against 22- 2-3 stars...the 4&5's will win most times. Not every time, but most.

I'll still contend there may be almost no difference between a 3.5 star kid and 4.0 star.

I really like what I see with this kid. I'll be be happy about that.

The reason he isn't being recruited by the "big boys" is his height. The big boys don't want 6'1" DEs, they want 6'3" - 6'6" ones.

There is no such thing as "too much speed" for a rusher coming off of the edge. I thought that film was impressive. Explosive! Plus, when the OL tried to get a hand on him, his hands were quick enough to knock them away and get around them.

Doyle will help put enough muscle on him to keep his speed, but be able to stop the run coming at him, IMHO. That will be the real test. If he can't set the edge, I will be surprised. But, if not, he looks like a perfect "Raider package" guy to rush the QB on obvious passing downs.

He's going to be a pass situation / pass rushing DE the minute he steps on campus as a true freshman. By his soph year, he will be 260 and playing every down. This guy has serious quicks. Hell, he may be able to hold his own at 250...due to leverage as a smaller player...he can get under guys.

We need guys that can get to the QB...this guy can get there.

Agree. Randy Gregory was a pretty good DE for the fuskers at 240. He's 6' 5" but nonetheless quickness on the edge equals QBs getting happy feet and sacks.

I just read a warning from imported ankle who claimed he was speaking for HN when he claims I violated rules of HN by insulting him (or someone) in HN. Here's what someone claimed as a insult:
Never mind.
Where's the insult in that? Ah, did I insult someone's ideology? Geeze, here's how I've played it when someone posts something that's against my ideologies: if the comment makes sense, I might think here-here. I certainly wouldn't take action to see that poster gone just 'cause it went against my ideologies.

Randy G. was good 2 seasons ago but not so much last season.
I would've been certain a pro team with a 3-4 defense would've drafted him ('cause of his playing weight) but then I remembered the Cowboys drafted him and I don't think the Cowboys have a 3-4 defense anymore (hope that's not considered an insult Cowboy fans).

Gregory is 'gonna have fun pin balling against all those pro offensive linemen and I mean all 4 of the offensive linemen since, if he beats one lineman, another will stand in his way and they're all at least as strong as he is
