Brandon Simon commits to Iowa

Nice, thanks man...sounds like he's going to fit in perfect, the new facility seems to be reeling them in.....lots of great comments..

Brings speed to the defensive line spot, great pick up. My favorite one thus far. I love athletic d linemen more than winning orange bowls, maybe.

Thanks for committing Brandon. I look forward to seeing you light up opposing quarterbacks in the near future.

No no no. You just do not get it. The 4&5 star guys would blow him away, because, well just because they have more stars. Ok?

Not sure how you and others know he was beating 4/5 star kids in that video since they never mentioned star values for any of the kids in the video. But might as well ***** about something.

But since you brought it up, can you explain why schools like Bama, OSU, UM, FL, Miami, FSU, USC, TX, ND, and all of the other historic teams in college football, keep winning NC's while laden with such horrible talent as 4/5 star recruits?

There are misses on rankings in both directions, but on average and over time, star values do matter.

this was a rivals camp. i'd bet $1 that these folks got their information from rivals - i'm sure it's no secret who attended this camp.........and what star rating that rivals has assigned them.

Here’s what Rivals wrote about Simon’s performance: “Simon was simply dominant and won every single rep he took during the one-on-one session. Simon is 6-foot-1, 236 pounds and very strong. Simon’s aggressive pass-rushing techniques and his very fast hands made it tough for any offensive lineman to slow him down. His explosiveness off the line of scrimmage was unmatched as he earned the D-line MVP award.”
NJ.com also covered the Rivals Camp and wrote, “was unstoppable off the edge.” NJ.com also reported that Simon will play rush-end in a hybrid role his senior year at Bosco.

Please provide link where it identifies each player Simon went against and beat and that players Rivals assigned star value.

I looked for a list like that and couldn't find one. Only info I could find was in my previous post where a Rivals reporter stated Simon was completely dominant and won every one on one he did which ultimately got him the MVP of the camp. I do think it's safe to assume that a Rivals camp would have some decent recruits attending it. I'd say it's also safe to assume that Simon didn't only go against the lesser talented guys and then was awarded the MVP of the entire camp. But who knows and maybe you're right and Simon got lucky and was only matched against a bunch of MAC guys. Seems like a bit of a stretch though. I do know that Syracuse fans we're disappointed in not getting this guys and Rutger fans we're hoping he'd attend their camp. He's a guy that's at least known in that area as decent player. There's definitely enough to like about this guy and I think Iowa should be glad to have him when you look at the list of DL recruits Iowas has had over the past few years.

please provide me the link where i say i was a premium member of rivals and would be otherwise privy to such information. then, provide me the link that shows me saying he beat out 4 and 5 star guys.

all i said was the people who stated such probably aren't just throwing crap against the board and hoping it sticks.

you might wish to ask the person(s) who stated the information you are discrediting. but i digress.

Some others at the camp that did well on the DL:

Rashan Gary 5* and the #6 player nationally offers from everyone basically.

Fred Hansard (2017) 4* offers from Iowa, Michigan, Miami, Ohio St., Penn St. and many others

Joshua Kainodoh (2017) 4* offers from 'Bama, Florida St., Georgia, Michigan, Penn St. and many others

Ron Johnson 4* committed to Michigan. Offers from 'Bama, Miami, Michigan St., Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio St., Oregon, Penn St., and many others

Michael Dwumfour committed to Penn St.

Damion Barber (2017) Offers from Penn St., Pitt, Rutgers, Va Tech

Brandon Simeon was the camp MVP on the DL over all these guys, and others as well. Keep in mind this is the quote about him compared to the rest of the players at this camp:

Simon was simply dominant and won every single rep he took during the one-on-one session. Simon is 6-foot-1, 236 pounds and very strong. Simon's aggressive pass-rushing techniques and his very fast hands made it tough for any offensive lineman to slow him down. Simon was unstoppable at camp. The best thing about his performance was his hand technique. His hands were so fast and he was so quick off the line of scrimmage that offensive linemen could barely touch him.
