Brad Rogers Impact this Year

Rogers is like a slightly faster version of Coker. Their stats from the Eastern Illinois game were nearly identical. He runs a bit lower and likes to hit (he played some LB in HS). More importantly he has KF's trust. His primary responsibility is going to be to protect JVB. I think we will see the TEs plowing the way for Brad from time to time, just to keep the opposing defenses honest.

Given his playtime experience Brad may be able to spot holes and creases a little faster than Coker did. If he can react on that then he might be a little more productive in some situations. The question is do the coaches think of him strictly as a FB or do they remember his work as a TB early in 2010? I think Brad would have been the starter at the Insight instead of Coker if not for the suspected heart issues.

KF seems to always go with a known so Coker got the starting spot in 2011 because of his performance at the Insight bowl.

Rogers was utilized at FB because he was the only one who had started at FB before the 2011 season and looked reasonable in the role during the victory over Michigan in 2010. He was put in as soon as he was cleared to play last year. It took him a while to get back from the time off so hopefully he is near that level now as the 2012 season approaches. Hope he gets some significant touches early on and maybe gets the coaching staff to rethink their role for him.

Man, i miss the coach!:D

I miss Fry's coy toying with the press. You never could be sure what he would say or what mood he was going to be in, the "poor is me/us" mood, the indignant mood, us against the world mood, jovial mood with the stories and wisecracks,

Rogers is like a slightly faster version of Coker. .

I like Brad Rogers, and I think he will be involved with the offense until some of the younger more explosive backs get the hang of things. But this quote above is not at all true. Neither were fast, but Coker is faster than Brad Rogers. Rogers ran a 4.7 coming into Iowa. Has he gotten faster, possibly. But Coker ran a 4.55.

Rogers will protect JVB, catch a few passes, and if he performs could be the goalline back. He can be a chain mover, he is not a game changer. I hope we get to see Garmon in singleback sets, but this won't happen if he can't passblock. TBD.

We approve. :)

A true legend. The type of legend that eclipses Paterno.
