Boyle commits to Iowa

These kids want to play at Iowa and they are fairly solid. Are they going to make an immediate impact? Of course not. And that's how Iowa's system is built to work. If these kids aren't pressed into service early in their careers due to attrition and injury they will grow with the program and when they are needed they will be ready to go. Our problem earlier this decade was the fact that these type of kids were on the field early due to attrition and that's where the drop off happens.

The problem is that there are a handful of individuals who post here that completely lack the ability to have some patience. They know they can post whatever garbage they want right now, and chances are when a kid like Boyle starts to shine in a Hawkeye uniform 3 or 4 years down the road no one will remember the idiotic things that they said when he first committed.

In most cases they are either trolling or they really are just that stupid. There are a number of valid reasons why the Iowa staff would offer a kid like this right now. For one, he was garnering attention from bigger schools. However, the only thing that I really care about is the fact Ferentz has an incredible track record of spotting under-the-radar talent and developing them into something special. Especially with Iowa kids. It literally baffles me when someone who claims to be a Hawkeye fan doesn't consider that when we get this type of commitment. If you are a Hawkeye fan then you would know exactly why Iowa would offer this kid right now. They like what they see. It's that simple. They don't give a damn whether there are 4 or 5 stars next to his freakin name on some waste of time recruiting site. Guess what? Kirk Ferentz doesn't need to ask Allen Trieu for his evaluations. He and his staff know what they are looking for.

I suggest checking out the 4A state championship game highlights. Boyle accounted for 6 TD’s in 3 qtrs of action... Named gatorade player of the year in Iowa as a junior.

According to Rob Howe, this summer was going to be big for Boyle as far as recruiting and development. Stoked we have him.

Sounds like they better give this guy a serious shot at QB, not just lip service. Guaranteed that's where a team like NW or Nebraska would put him, and then he would proceed to burn us.

This. Iowa has gotten some very good under the radar guys in this year's and next year's classes. Getting some very athletic kids who have gone unnoticed for a while because they're quarterbacks in Iowa (Snyder, Boyle). Both of those guys have a ton of potential, IMO. Snyder more in the secondary (IMO), but Boyle could make an impact under center. I think Davis would like to have more of a read-option spread flavor, and Boyle is the perfect kind of QB to run that.

Super strong kid for his position. I looked at some of the top QB around the country and Ryan is statistically in the same conversation. Strength wise he's significantly above avg. And to think how much better he's going to get. Really exciting sign for the Hawks.

Height: 6'2
Weight: 215
Vertical: 31"
Bench: 340
GPA: 3.8
40 YD: 4.6
Shuttle: 4.2
Squat: 530

Holy smokes! Those are lineman type numbers! Damn. And the kid is mobile too. No wonder the kid from Rutgers wasn't thrilled about the offer to Boyle.

This is just it. I read on 247 that at least this person felt that Boyle is the better QB than Benevetti. Boyle was poised to really blow up this summer in camps and such. Very important to get kids like that locked up before others notice, and come a knocking. As a matter of fact others have noticed, just not offered yet. This is pretty typical at the QB position, as most staffs want to see them throw live before offering. Boyle was starting to see some interest from Nebraska, Michigan and Mich. St.

So he's 6'2 205 lbs, benches 335 lbs, squats 450 lbs, and runs a 4.6 40 yard dash. He's led Dowling to the state title at the highest level of high school football Iowa has to offer.

Remind me again why anyone would question why Iowa offered this kid now? Those numbers are pretty damn impressive. Morris, Kirksey, and Hitchens just had their pro day and they were running in the 4.5's after 4-5 years of being Doylized. Boyle is 6'2 205 right now and he's running a 4.6! Who cares if he ends up at QB or not? They will find a spot for this kid to make an impact. Heck maybe he'll end up playing linebacker like those guys. They can definitely put 30 lbs on his frame.
