I know of few of you on here follow the sport and I've been looking around lately for some coverage and been disappointed with whats available. I usually check out Boxing Scene and The Sweet Science and occasionally Fight News. Are there any other good sites out there? I saw an article on Bleacher Report (I know, they're amateur at best) where a guy was suggesting that Mayweather should be looking at Ward for his next opponent. Seriously, if that is your suggestion take a year or two off, learn about the sport, then try again and maybe you won't embarrass yourself. I am anxious to find out what Mayweathers plans are though. Here is my dream scenario:

Spring 2013 Mayweather v Martinez, Alvarez v Lara with the winners facing off in the fall - Canelo has been on Mayweathers last two undercards (I don't care if he demanded a 'co-main event' he was the undercard) and I think its been to set up a future match with the two. GBP promotes Canelo so there shouldn't be too much trouble getting it made as opposed to TR fighters. Canelo has said he wants to fight again before the end of the year but his options are going to be limited. He needs to step up his competition and did try in his last fight (Ortiz lost to Lopez, Williams was paralyzed and Kirkland backed out). If Kirkland can figure out his troubles I'd love to see them face off in late '12 or early '13. The Martirosyan/Lara winner is supposed to get the mandatory for Canelo and I see that being Lara. Lara is very talented and a fight with him will legitimatize Canelo IMO. If he can beat his next two, as long as they are real contenders, I think he will have done enough to earn the fight in the eyes of those who make the fights. I'd like to see Canelo face Cotto but he has Trout in December and as long as the WBC keeps their word (not at all a guarantee) then Canelo will have to fight the Lara/Martirosyan winner. So that sets up the Canelo Lara fight to take place right around the time I anticipate Mayweather getting ready to fight.

Mayweather originally planned to set up a fight after his release for the end of 2012. His camp has been silent on his intentions since his release though and its now too late to make this happen and the end of year dates are too full anyway. He really likes to get the Mexican PPV buys on the Cinco de Mayo weekend so I could see him waiting until then and putting Canelo on the card to get them. It's possible Mayweather could go after Bradley but his last couple of fights he has taken on the best available besides Pacquiao. He could argue that Bradley beat Pac Man so that makes him the best but everyone knows who won that fight and that Bradley is not yet elite. With Martinez willing to move down in weight for a Mayweather showdown I think it makes him the best fight available other than Pac Man. If he were to fight Martinez and take on the Canelo/Lara winner, it would go a long way to solidifying his place in the sport (whether he actually cares about that I don't know). I don't know how many fights Mayweather has left in him but I would say 0-5, mostly likely 2-3. Whether or not Pac Man gets one of those is anyones guess so I'll bypass that speculation. Pac Man will have his hands full with Marquez anyway. Anyone else looked into their Mayweather crystal ball?

Sidenote - a couple other fighters I'm really excited to see progress: Guerrero (calls out too many guys but doesnt get the respect he deserves), Matthyse (only two losses were robberies from hometown judges), Gamboa (get back in the ring already!) and Broner (Mayweather clone without the substance, my hatred keeps me tuning in).

Ring Magazine online is good stuff. And on twitter them, Dan Rafael of ESPN, Chris Mannix of Sports illustrated, & Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports.
