Box score and Jok's PT

What are your thoughts about Pete getting a good chunk of minutes?

I have said we need to have more shooters on the floor and he certainly helps but are his defensive lapses worth the gain we get from his ability to score??

Looking at the box score Ogelsby played 25 minutes and only took 3 shots... He's gotta bring more value than that.

Uthoff played 8 scoreless minutes.

Ill played 3 bench players for 54 minutes and scored 20 including the GW.
Hawk bench played 6 guys for 70 minutes and scored 15.
 
Jok got credited for 2 assists but had 2 more sick passes that should have been converted. Jok is the best passer on this team and it's not even close. That's a part of his game that I didn't know about.
 
jok showed he could beat his man off the dribble and get the ball inside. we know he can shoot.

he was hustling in the zone but a few times he still looked a little lost, and got beat badly on that back door.

if he can develop into an average defender, he'll really help the offense -- it was running well with him in there, for most of those minutes.

jok can't play D, not even a little bit. His "defense" lead to at least 5 lay-ups and multiple fast breaks.
 
I think White kills our offensive flow worse than any other player. Every time he gets the ball he stands there with it until the defense gets back in position. There was one time, after an offensive rebound I think, where he had an easy pass to a wide open Oglesby for 3, but he just held onto the ball instead of passing it. I swear he looked right at him too. Between that and his unwillingness to shoot the open shot, he really handicaps us. Of course he helps in a lot of ways too. I was just pointing out a couple observations.

It didn't work.
 
Jok has a lot of ability and just needs time to get his game on track. (or is it untracked?) But I find it odd that Fran chooses now to try to start developing Jok.

I agree on the timing. It really makes me wonder if he has turned it on big time in practice. Even a slight jump wouldn't really justify playing at this stage so maybe he's made a big jump. That has me hopeful for next year for sure.
 
I liked it. He got lost on defense a few times, but at least he was lost and not simply giving poor effort.

I won't say anything about Uthoff, other than he might frustrate me more than any Hawk I can remember.
 
I think Jok could play PG for us with the way he passes the ball. I'm stunned by the ability he showed. It's no surprise to me that he saw a lot of minutes because feeding the post effectively is one area we have been missing all season. Gesell is not a facilitator, IMO. He rarely drives to draw defenders and then finds the open post player. When he drives, it's to score.

What decisions has fran made that arent odd? Dudes new glasses are even a poor decision
 
At halftime they said Jok was +12.

He did have a couple of bad defensive lapses. So what?
White did, too. Including the last shot of the game.

White's last possession defense was really bad twice. First his attempt to steal the pass was bad. Then he had a hitch in his step before he went to block the shot. It was weird. It looked like he timed the block wrong or something but without the hitch he gets there in time easily.
