Bowling?

There are not many scenarios that puts Iowa in the Pizza Bowl. If Iowa gets to 6 wins another bowl will take them before the Pizza Bowl picks.

I know MNHawkeyeFreak is hoping Iowa goes bowling so that she can get the full Stanzi charm. Steak dinner, expensive bubbly, and the best suite Super 8 has to offer. Her husband will be there though so that could get awkward.

I was thinking something more upscale...Holiday Inn Express?

Absolutely not kidding. We beat an abysmal isu team by 6 and suddenly we are rolling through the B1G and headed for a bowl. That Kool-Aid is old. Dump it out.

Please enlighten us by showing who on earth is saying we're going to roll through the Big Ten there big guy. Getting to 6 or 7 wins and rolling through the B10 are two completely different things. You do realize that right? You just like to ***** and moan. Go grab another manpon at your earliest convenience. I think yours is getting a little "heavy".

I just don't see the 3 conference wins to get to 6, on the season.
We're 1-2 against Minnesota the last 3 years, against some really bad Minnesota teams.
Purdue is on the road, and we lose more of those than win in West Lafayette.
We seem to match up with MSU the best, but their offense just put up some points.
At Ohio State, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Michigan and at Nebraska.

This is why the first 4 games were must wins.
If we can't beat Northern Illannoy at Kinnick, where are the 3 wins going to come from?

Pretty much every year contains a surprise win. I wouldn't be surprised by a win over NW, Wisky, Michigan, or Nebraska. I haven't seen anything that tells me those teams are unbeatable. Wisky lost at AzSU, Michigan barely beat Akron(!), Nebraska absolutely does not have a defense.

But in watching some of the other B1G games none of the other teams outside of Ohio State really scare me. The B1G is down this year and it is possible Iowa could pull off 3 or 4 wins in conference, especially if that team that played the first 55 minutes of the Iowa State game shows up.

I'll thank you to keep your hands off my personal hygiene products, thank you very much.
When I look at this team's upcoming schedule, I see games that Iowa might win if things all go their way. The only game I see where we should definitely whoop-*** is vs Purdue.

I've seen three games so far and this is what I'm seeing:
RB's-solid
OL-ok
DL-good
QB- very good
WR- poor
Secondary- very poor

Sorry if I'm "hating" and wearing a "man-pon." This team isn't impressing me much.

I hope that was sarcasm. Have you seen the B1G so far this season. A lot of winnable games on the schedule.

I think it's possible for them to win two big ten games. That is what I predicted before the season. If you are honest with yourself, after watching the three games considering the competition level of those three teams, one can't possibly think this is a bowl team based on that performance vs that level of competition.

Clearly, sir, you are just another manpon wearing hater.:rolleyes:

Here is how I see it playing out:

WMU- W
@Minny- W
MSU- W
@OSU- L
NU- L
Wisky-W
@Purdue- W
Michigan-L
@Nebby- L

7-5 (4-4)

I said after the NIU loss that Iowa would be 5-1 rolling into Columbus. I havent seen anything from MSU or Minny to make me change my mind.

I think you need to move the o-line up to good, at least. They've plowed the way for 700+ yds rushing.

I also wouldn't put the secondary at very poor. I don't think they're that bad. Certainly not good, but not very poor.

The WRs are showing some promise, however, are still dropping far too many balls that are hitting them on the hands. So... Fair assessment.

You also are skipping a couple positions. Special teams (fair) & LBs (very good).

Is it not true that our D-line will be out talented in every big ten game? I would think this is true, but am not sure.

Statistically they have crushed er'ybody (with the exception of NIU). The point totals aren't there; KirFer teams don't typically run up the point totals. I think there has been enough in the first 3 games to show this team could win more than 2 B1G games.

I am and I have but have you watched any of the other Big Ten games? Iowa is not the only Big Ten team struggling to beat MAC, FCS, or the Iowa States.

That is about what I was thinking.

What I saw Saturday night (or what my arm-chair QB mind thought it saw) was two teams that look like they are going to have a hard time scoring points against any defense with a pulse.. ISU in particular. ISU looked bad, bad, BAAAAAAAD. What I saw from the Clowns, I'm not sure they are going to win more than 1 or 2 games this year. Yet, it came down to having to recover an on-side kick to preserve that win.

Iowa will win a few games this year, but I am not yet convinced that they are going to reach 6+ wins based solely on what I saw this weekend. Doesn't mean I'm writing anyone off. Iowa is 2-1, but the schedule is going to get tougher.

Sorry to rain on the parade. But yeah, it does always feel good to beat Iowa State.

I will qualify this by also saying that I am less than impressed with the Big Ten, though. So who knows?
