Bowl selection day (and the system in general)

The problem with this decision is that it now sets a precedent that conference championships and head to head do not matter. Every program which isn't a blue blood should be upset because now they have NO shot unless they go undefeated. Bad precedent to set.
They were correct to pick Ohio St over Penn State.

Maybe but that wasn't my point. As an Iowa fan I hate the precedent it sets because now a one loss Iowa team which wins its conference championship can be excluded for not passing the eyes test or rank low on offensive explosiveness and be left out. I know that assumes that Iowa would ever be in such a position, but we can hope can't we!

I think this is a good point. This is basically saying that Iowa has to go undefeated and win the B1G to have a chance to make the Playoffs. Iowa will never meet the eye test. That combination will likely come around only once a century, and unfortunately, I think it just passed.

Should Clemson be in they didn't beat Pittsburgh at Home!?!?
They also didn't get beat by anyone by 39 points...and they only got beat once on a last second field goal. Penn State has only themselves to blame. They also beat no good team on the road...other than Wisconsin last night...but not a true road game.

And this is a revelation to you?:)

I think it would be exciting to have an 8 team playoff. All power 5 conference champions get in. And after that its all wild card.

It could be done. There is enough time for 3 weeks of football for this to be done. We have most of December and the first week of January to make it work.

I personally think it would be exciting. Everyone would be happy this way and a whole bunch more money to be made. It also gives the Hawkeyes the best chance of making the playoff.

No, Pedo St beat Ohio St on a fluke play. Also, Pedos lost to Pitt & got blown out by Michigan, and Ohio St only had one loss.
If we start talking about fluke plays then why didn't that come into account last year with MSU v Michigan or Okie St v C Mich this year? Flukes dont matter...a win is a win.

Exactly Fluke plays happen every year! That's what makes College football awesome..

that's ridiculous. They lost twice...everyone ahead of them has lost once. Granted, they beat OSU at HOME...but OSU just beat the team that beat Penn State by 39. I would not be saying Iowa belonged. I might be saying it would have been great to have a play in game to see how we could do in the playoff because the team is peaking at the right time...but Iowa wouldn't be deserving either. I don't think the argument is close either in the committee room.

I'm not saying Iowa would be deserving. I'm saying that allot (sorry I said all, I know, only Sith deal in absolutes) of people would be singing a different tune.

Probably goes without saying around here that HN cannot stand OSU and will prop up even, gulp, Penn State to abolish them.

It's now who it is, it's the situation. If PSU were heading to the Playoffs and OSU were the B1G Champions, then I would be saying that OSU should be in.

Is a loss a loss? Cuz Pedo St had one more loss than Ohio State.

I disagree. If Iowa had one loss this year, say the Wisconsin game, they would be in this year for sure.
