Bowl Projections

I’m going with Duke Mayo bowl.

I see the B1G with 4 teams in BCS playoff, leaving Illinois at the top of the best of the rest based on league standings. That should put them in the Citrus bowl.

The Reliaquest bowl is next in the pecking order. Generally, a solid Iowa team would be the selection but Michigan just defeated fOSU and finished one game behind the Hawks. I can see the Wolverines jumping us and taking what should be the Hawks spot in this bowl.

No way any other B1G teams jump us for Mayo bowl so that’s my prediction.

I don't know the rules anymore, but there used to be a thing that said you could take a team that had 1 fewer loss over another team, but not 2 fewer wins. If I'm a 2nd tier bowl and can choose any B1G team, I'm picking Nebraska. I don't really care about the quality of the game. That basically makes me no money. The Fuskers haven't made a bowl game since Trump was elected president, so they're taking 60,000 fans, plus they have no bowl shirts/gear or the women need a new one 4 sizes bigger and they'll probably need back window stickers for their 1979 Ford F150. Nebraska makes me money. Tons of it. I'm also jacking up ticket, concession, etc. prices. That's all I care about. They'll make me more money than any other team in CFB.

Lol, that's funny. The only time Nebraska makes a bowl is when Trump is elected president.

ESPN projection:

ReliaQuest Bowl
Raymond James Stadium (Tampa, Florida)
Noon, ESPN

Bonagura: Iowa vs. Ole Miss
Schlabach: Iowa vs. Missouri

Sporting News: Mayo Bowl vs Clemson
CBS Sports: ReliaQuest vs Ole Miss
USA Today: ReliaQuest vs Ole Miss
247Sports: First Responder vs Boston College - wtf, no chance.
Athlon: ReliaQuest vs Texas A&M
The Athletic: Music City vs Ole Miss

Unless I'm missing something, the order of bowl selections:

BCS (I'm projecting 4 B1G teams - Oregon, PSU, Indiana, and fOSU)
1. Citrus Bowl - Illinois - ranked and a better record
2. ReliaQuest Bowl - Michigan or Iowa - this is where it gets messy. Who would you rather have?
3. Duke's Mayo Bowl - Michigan or Iowa - all depends on who ReliaQuest selects
4. Music City Bowl - Kneebraska - free to pick any team and Kneebraska wins in a toss up
5. Pinstripe Bowl - Minny
7. Guaranteed Rate Bowl - Rutgers
8. Quick Lane Bowl - ? - no other B1G non-expansion team is bowl eligible so maybe Washington or USC?

USC, Washington, Oregon, and UCLA if bowl eligible will likely go to Pac-12 affiliated bowl games. Since the only expansion team that has a better win/loss than Iowa is Oregon and they will be in the BCS, no expansion team will take up any of those bowls listed above with the exception being Quick Lane or Guaranteed Bowl.

I was attempting to read your post in a discreet manner while attending a Zoom meeting. My outburst of laughter really gave me away. Thanks a lot! Seriously funny.

Hey, if the choice was Ole Miss in the ReliaQuest bowl or Mizzou in the Music City bowl, our chances are MUCH better vs Mizzou. The chances may not be great, but Ole Miss would put a 45 pt beatdown on Iowa's secondary, without a doubt.

Not Iowa related, but 2 Big 12 teams, BYU and Colorado, are playing each other in the Alamo Bowl. I guess it would be like us playing USC in a bowl, but it still seems odd.

Colorado is the Pac 12 representative.
Is that just because the Pac 12 wouldn't have enough teams or because Colorado, etc, is tied into Pac 12 bowls for a certain number of years because of some bowl tie-in agreement from the past few years?
