Here are the best matchups I see for the Big Ten bowl games with respect to getting the best possible games.

Wisky vs. TCU - Rose
OSU vs. AR - Sugar
MSU vs. Bama - Cap One
PSU vs. USC - Outback
Iowa vs. MSU - Gator
Michigan vs. Missouri - Insight
Illinois vs. Baylor - Texas
NW vs. (whatever team from CUSA) - Dallas

Why is Northwestern always left out of these guesses? Are they not able to go to a bowl game for some reason?

LOL - I hit send before I was finished.
The issue with NW is Persa's injury. With a healthy Persa they jump way up.
Also, this isn't a guess as to what I expect, just what I think might end up making good games.

So where/who does Florida end up playing.

This is where things won't fall the way they would need for these matchups to occur, because Florida would have to go to the eet mor chikin bowl. But it is highly likely that the ACC rep will be FSU and they won't want that rematch. So I could see Florida getting slotted to the Gator and MSU going to the chikin bowl. Fla vs (a reasonably healthy) Iowa or PSU would likely be a good game.

I think or at least hope that Gator Bowl does not take Iowa It wont look like a very good showing in florida with fans down and we have been to florida so many times in the last 8 years. I think our fan showing would look better in AZ as we have not been there and alot of snowbirds from Iowa already there. I know they wont bost the economy much but it will look like a good showing. I vote Tampa first of course but if we cant get that I wouldnt mind seeing us slip to Insight Bowl.

Yeah, I didn't even consider where I would want Iowa to go, or what would be best for Iowa. Just looking for good games.

For the most part I agree. Wisconsin and TCU seemed locked for the Rose Bowl barring any upset loss from Auburn or Oregon.

It's sounding more and more like an Arkansas-Ohio State Sugar Bowl even though Stanford would be ranked higher and have the first chance to go off the board. However it does sound like OSU-Ark is the matchup. Otherwise it'll be OSU against the ACC champ in the Orange Bowl.

The Orange Bowl needs to make a splash because attendance and ratings are hurting in recent years.

Michigan State vs Alabama should be a lock unless for some reason they send Bama to the Cotton Bowl to face Texas A&M. Of course this would be the Saban Bowl if MSU meets Bama.

I still think Iowa has a good shot at the Outback Bowl but I understand why people are talking down Iowa on that bowl, and not really saying much at all about why Penn State deserves to go other than they're Penn State, which I thought we took care of last year.

That's why Michigan could jump us for the Gator. I thought we killed this "name brand" thing, but I guess not when you lose 3 in a row and all your fans scream and whine in the public square.

South Carolina seems like the most likely choice in the Outback Bowl. They wouldn't pair up Penn State and Bama or LSU again, but if they throw Iowa in there that could make for some more interesting matchups. Penn State-USC would be the best choice if that ended up being the case.

If Iowa does land in the Gator Bowl then it will most likely be against Florida and really we deserve each other for the kind of crummy season we've had. Plus I wouldn't mind another crack at the Gators.

I agree with your other choices.

Northwestern would be playing in the TicketCity Bowl in Dallas and most likely against Texas Tech because of the local ties. it would be a good pick-up for Dallas and the big 12 as they do have a tie-in with that bowl. It's either Big 12 or CUSA and if Tech is available, they'll take them.

Plus it'd probably be a better match than NU vs some mid level CUSA team.

The way we played at the end of the year we should decline the bid and stay home and practice more.

I think it likely that despite Kirk's recent success in bowl games I could see us coming up flat or at least our seniors and then anyone we would play that's excited to be there would be a problem.
