Booing Brust? I thought we didn't want him anyway.

You know while we are on this topic, we really should stop booing the officials or questioning their calls. We need to start removing fans from the arena when they start booing. Fran needs to sit on the bench and not say anything bad to the officials or to the players for that matter. Someone get him a pack of gum.

Any distractions behind the hoop, while the opposing team is shooting free throws, will not be accepted.

I think that happened every time he played there, not just the last time. Now if the younger Bohannon ever sees the floor with Wisconsin, I would not see the need to boo him.
Agreed. I was just pointing out there are other reasons guys have been booed here. It was confusing to my 11 year old at the time. :)

Note to the student section. When a guy shoots an air ball and subsequently makes a basket (let alone multiple) you should not still be chanting "AIRBALL, AIRBALL"

As dumb as it is, it makes sense. As a player, you want to forget about the airball and get back to hitting shots, as a fan, you want to remind that player about his poor shot and hope it gets in his head.

In fact they really need to be sitting down. There is a reason why there are seats in the arena and they should be used.

Students can do whatever they want...although it isn't like Brust is setting the world of college bb on fire. He will be a junior next year and has done little up to now. Had he stayed, Iowa wouldn't have gotten one of the players they have recruited the past 2 years. I want players that Fran recruits, not Lickliter. And Gatens would have been a Hawk regardless the coach...

This is true, I am not sure Iowa would have Oglesby right now had Brust honored his LOI.

I get why the crowd booed, I just think we're better than that response. So he left, BFD. Booing him almost gives him more legitimacy, like the "overrated" chant demeans the significance of an upset win. That's all.

Good student sections are ruthless. As long as they're not rhyming someone's name with genitalia or spewing chants that make you cover your children's ears, then I'm all for whatever they bring to the game.

They're not "better than that" because they weren't acting poorly in even the remotest sense. They were acting in precisely the way a student section is expected to. If anything I say bring more of it and bring it louder.

Holy crap, we are bipolar. We lament lack of student support and then bag on them for booing when they show up.

You clearly need to start teaching your child to hate at an earler age. It will be less confusing for them. ;)

Here's the rub: I think Brust is a pretty good player and had he kept his commitment I think he would have been a contributor on this team. Perhaps not a starter but certainly a very strong sixth or seventh man. He didn't and landed at a disliked conference rival under somewhat controversial circumstances. So bring the noise.

We don't want to be on visiting teams vacation travel brochures. We want Carver to be one nasty, miserable brutal place to play.

I'm confused. Seriously, it's a bad move by the crowd. It sounds a little bush league. It's right up there with the "overrated" chant.

You can't be serious can you ? Personally I loved it ; and for once we had a great student section. I suppose you sit on your hands the whole time you go to a game . Sorry guy ; but I found your post pretty ridiculous. Get real !

AMEN, brother!!!!!

I'm surprised enough students followed basketball enough to know who Brust was and that he did spurn Iowa.
