What would Iowa's field look like if it were all black? I'm not big on all the hype of colored fields, but an all black one would look pretty sweet....especially on those black out games.

I think the NCAA banned any color but green on new surfaces.

Personally, I really dislike the blue field.

I know I read the banned field color thing recently. Perhaps it was a reaction to the red field.

yes it was after the plans and money was spent on E. Washington's new field. Black would be ferocious on those late august early september games (as far as field temperature). Imagine what a construction worker feels like walking a freshly paved asphalt. I think that we should have as dark a green as you can get. Like maybe for every 1 green piece of grass there is 2 black pieces. still "technically" meeting the requirement of green, but being as dark as possible. You could also have an all black surface running from the standium seating up to the white sideline. If we ever did a blackout at night again, we should turn off two of the four imported stadium lights and do our swarm under a "blackout" (however these lights take forever to power up)

I also think that Kinnick stadium should get that stuff that you spray in the bed of a truck (bed liner) and spray the stadium black, everything but the beautiful brick exterior. Other teams do this same method to appear sold out even when they are not, by having red seats at a cardinal game, for example.

Lets see, being that Iowa has played 3 games at home during SEPTEMBER, where generally the temperatures hit 90's in these parts, unlike this year and oh yes those December games we play! Oh and forget about the many practices that Iowa has in Kinnick in the month of August. But yeah, you have a point.

Yes Yes I am all for black turf. Everyone could bring somthign to bake while they watch the game.

I put dibs in for chocolate chip cookie dough. Just put a sheet of it at field level and in 20 minutes warm cookies for everyone!!!

There is no ban on colored surfaced fields. it is just a myth. i always thought it was illegal but i just read an article on it and its not true
