Bohannon on Historic Pace

Wow. Crazy how much better he has been than I thought he would be. I didn't think he would put up these kinds of numbers as a Sr, let alone as a Fr.

He has a really nice shot but in terms of a distributor that really has surprised me. He's just got a nice all around game and for a freshman that is great to see. Still room for improvement with some decision making but that will all come in time.

He's going to be a damn good one if he stays healthy.

I honestly didn't think he'd be able to get his shot off at the B1G level. Was wrong and not afraid to admit it. Add that to the fact that he's dropping like 4.5 assists per game with only about 2 turns/game....that's phenomenal production from a freshman point guard who's not, shall we say, the most athletically-inclined player. :)

The other player that's really surprised me this year as well is Ellingson. He's shooting something like 57% on 3's with nearly 50 attempts. Starting to remind me a lot of Kent McCausland....just money every time he releases it....

He's the kind of shooter we need. He's not afraid to pull the trigger...Fran gives him the green light, and if anyone sags a little on him, it's going in....

The crazy thing is he is hitting 38% of 3's and he never has a really great look at the basket. I mean he pulls from 25' regularly as that is the only spot he has some spacing as teams guard him WAY out past the 3 pt line.

I'm impressed with a lot of his game, but his handle might be the most impressive part. He has no problem at all getting up the floor anymore.

Also did anyone notice the rebound right before he stopped to draw the foul? I couldn't believe he was strong enough to hang onto that ball when the defender came in to try to take it away. Dude is tough as nails.

What does everyone think? Will he break both career records? Somebody should start a poll.

I could see him getting the 3s record, presuming he continues to shoot so many (if not more in the future) and doesn't get hurt. He takes 5.9 a game, only Kingsbury (7.2) and Recker (6.3) have ever shot more per game in their time at Iowa but neither played four years. I think this will be his top year for assists though so I think he finishes 5th or 6th in assists career if he stays at point guard for four years. I'm not entirely convinced he won't eventually be the two guard as an upper classmen.

Both player are starting to come into their own. Not bad for two players that a few on this forum were ready to throw under the bus the first part of this season.

Better tell his stats to shut up. We've already been informed that his assists are "unimpressive," and he needs to shoot less. Thanks to 56 for his words of reason.

JB a very pleasant surprise. He would be even better with a high quality PG on board, allowing him less time handling the ball and more chances to be a shooting/PG combo. This would allow a more athletic PG to play defense against the highly talented and quick PGs on the opposing teams.

I love his fearless attitude. He plays like a senior.

He not only makes plays, but makes them at the crucial times, the sign of a seasoned competitor.

I would love to hear some stats on Bauer.

How many players end up with more assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks than they do turnovers per game?

And what is the record for Steals/Blocks/3 PT shots made in a year. A 50-50-50 season?

I am starting to like JBo. He seems smart, lot of court savvy. He is much more comfortable this game. His passing is very good. Especially that pass to Tyler to end the half.

He just might be the starting point guard later on in the season. He looked comfortable out there, more than last game for sure.

I might be wrong but it appeared that our perimeter stinks. Wonder if we should leave Baer on the perimeter, maybe guarding their best shooter of the one who is hot.

The interior D seems lackluster, along with rebounding.

Oh yeah, Jordan does like to shoot the ball without fear or sense of redemption.

Not only that, his three point accuracy is becoming a very potent weapon.....

Bo just might be one of the best point guards in Hawkeye History.....

I didn't know what kind of scoring he would do. I thought he would be just fine on A/TO.

But I knew he would be the hard-nosed, tough-minded player that Iowa needed.
