Bo Ryan to coach 1 more season

While Bo's retirement is good for Iowa, I gotta say that I'm gonna miss him. Strange feeling.

Bo did it clean at Wisconsin and while I hated his teams, I respected how they played.

hopefully Izzo doesn't hang it up soon too.

I read he was retiring for health reasons, so I suppose its because he thought he was getting to old to be the coach he wanted to be for Wisconsin. Wisconsin doesn't appear to have a great team this year, and with his saying this is his last year, it should be a huge distraction for the basketball team. I don't see Wisconsin having a great year, and Bo will probably be tired out when the season is all over with. Whatever they do this year, he was a great coach for Wisconsin. There are going to be a lot of people that will miss him.
 
Have mixed feelings on it. He's been great for the league. I'd rather beat him then whomever they end up with cause it'd just mean that much more. Does it mean it'll knock them down a peg? Maybe/probably. I'd rather Iowa get better and pass them then have them come down for us to do it... But it is what it is as they say. Wish him well minus 2 maybe 3 games this year.
 
R E S P E C T!!!! He deserves it. He ran a clean program that the Badger fans could be proud of. I saw him when he coached UW Platteville for several years. He did a great job there also.
 
When you beat Wisconsin you know that you earned it, they never gave it away under Bo.

Beating Wisconsin won't feel the same without Bo on the sidelines. When one of the coaching greats retires it's never good for the prestige of the conference.
 
Getting out on top. Not a bad idea. He won't have another team like he's had the last 2 seasons.
I can't wait until Barry Alvarez is GONE! Then Becky will slide back into their rightful place in the BIG basement.

I agree, he's had a great run at Wisconsin, but I'm sure he knows that he doesn't have another Kaminsky or Dekker arriving on campus within the next couple of years, so may as well go out a legend, and not have to spend the next few years rebuilding and then having the fans/media turn on him if they can't get back into BIG Ten title contention.

Yea, they sucked in the 80's. Going to Madison was almost a sure win. Miss those days.

Crap, I was talking football mostly. Thought I was in the football thread I guess.
 
Gard will take over and they won't miss a beat. That is how they(Wisconsin) have been rollin lately.

Tony Bennett gets a phone call and he says no...so I guess that is a good thing.
 
Saw a stat where he has the highest winning % in BIG games for all coaches that coached 10 yrs or more... Gotta give it up for a stat like that. Ahead of Bobby Knight, Izzo everyone. He doesn't get many 4 star studs either. Paid his dues at the other levels of coaching kept his program clean along the way so he's earned plenty of respect in my book.
