Bo Pelini over Kirk Ferentz?

I've been thinking about this for a few days now. Would you, today, take Bo Pelini as Head Coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes over Kirk Ferentz? Why or why not?

No way on Pelini. If he can lose 4 games each and every year he is at Nebraska when they have way better recruiting classes than Iowa, I would hate to see how much he struggled when we was brining in #40-#50 nationally ranked recruiting classes. Pelini has a ton of athletes over there and can't win a super weak B1G west with them.

he wouldnt lose to ISU. His record would be ideal for Iowa. 9-4 every year and beat the teams you should beat.

All things equal yes I would trade

I think I'd stick with KF. Like others have mentioned, he was able to get better recruiting classes over there but I think his player development skills are weak. With our recruiting resources, we need a guy who can develop players.

so no Big 10 championships, no BCS bowl games in exchange for not having losses to ISU? I don't think that's a good trade, but that's just me.

if anyone thinks Pelini is a better coach than Ferentz they are crazy and I am a guy who wants Ferentz gone. Good DC? Sure, but bad head coach.

What is your definition of better coach? I am assuming winning/losing, correct? Isn't that why they play the game? Pelini has won either 9 or 10 games in all 7 seasons with Nebraska and has a 72% winning percentage and is 3-1 against Kirk.

Ferentz has a 58% winning percentage and has only won 9 games or more in 5 out of 16 seasons which is around 31% of the time he wins 9 games or more.

Is 72% greater than 58%? If your answer is yes, then I am assuming you meant if anybody thinks Kirk is a better coach than Pelini, you are beyond insane.

Personality aside, Pelini is a way, way better coach. The #'s don't lie.

Hell, I'm already an a$$hole watching Iowa the way it is....why in the hell would I want Pelini stealing my thunder? I would be divorced before the end of the 1st quarter (damn near did before halftime a few times already)......:)

That is a dumb comparison. KF had to build a program at a non Blue Blood school from shat. Pelini walked into a ready made job, at a traditional power Blue Blood program.

Nick Saban had a .580 winning % at Michigan St., and low and behold that winning % jumped at LSU, and jumped again at Bama.

Better players in the SEC makes it easier to win. The overall talent in the B1G is getting worse each year.

You asked if winning was why they play the game, and it certainly is. Winning championships that is. So in that mind, Ferentz is 2-0 vs Pelini.

FACT. Plus if Pelini had actually won the B1G one year, and then won 8 a year or two later it would be better, as he could point to the championship. It isn't like Nebraska is getting punked by OSU, PSU and Michigan (traditional powers), they are getting punked by MSU and Wisky, and now Minny (non traditional powers)

Nebraska's traditional power stock is all but worthless now days. Just like Minnesota's is. Hey kid, you want to come play for an average program because we won championships before you were born?

There are a number of coaches out there that win games. That doesn't mean they're good coaches.

Kirk Ferentz took over a program that finished in the top 25, 10 times out of 20 years. Kirk Ferentz took over a program that steamrolled bad teams like ISU and never, ever would have thought about losing to ISU or Western Michigan or Central Michigan.

And what does Nick Saban have anything to do with Bo Pelini and Kirk Ferentz and who is the better coach??

Bo Pelini took over a mess of a situation left behind by Bill Callahan. Nebraska hasn't won a national title in 17 years. You call that Blue Blood Program? Ancient History. You need to pay better attention kid. Get back to class.
