Blame and Credit

Iowa St. beat themselves. Kirk beat Miss. St., good win, but not a huge upset. Kirk beat Ohio St., once. Great win, but didn't back it up. Not a lot of upsets by Iowa in the last 3 years. Been upset quite a few times. I guess most fans are looking at consistency, making the next level. Beating Wisconsin. I see the argument on both sides. Unfortunately, bringing Greg Davis in when Kirk had his pick of OC's left a bad taste in the mouths of many fans and then doubling down with his son didn't help, and the offense is still a mess, with a third year starter at QB. Honestly, Brian better pull something out of his arse or the noise will get louder.

I think you will find that KF and the hawks beat OSU handily and really crushed them in 2004 but I do agree with what you are saying that Iowa has lost more games lately they should have won than the other way around.

And as you say most of the time it is because the hawks are only scoring 10-15 points against teams like Minny, even though we have been beating them, jNW, Purdue, etc.

The hawk defense has played really well over the years except for the taxslayer bowl and that beat down at penn st a few years ago.

Agree the only thing upsetting is paying top dollar with the requirement just be better than .500. I don't know any fans demanding 10+ wins every season from Kirk or his staff unlike the Cornhuskers daydreamers but c'mon.

I just cant understand how we beat these tough teams and then come out a lot of times and look like there is no plan on offense and no urgency to beat weaker teams.

Iowa plays the same regardless of who the opposing team is. Keep it close, do iust enough to win.

I don't blame the coaching for the Michigan loss, it was a three pronged failure; Stanley, O-Line, BF. I guess it does all come down to coaching, or lack thereof.
