Blake Haluska will walk on Iowa football program

Good to hear. Just read on maxpreps that he ran a 11.3 100 yard dash. Benches 225. Has a whiplike arm. Had to google his name to make sure he was Adam's brother. Good genes. Sounds like a good pick up for a walk-on.

He is going to get a shot at QB first...then see what happens

So...

Stanzi - SR
JVB - RS So
Weinke - RS So
Derby - Fr (Redshirt?)
Veir (shot at QB first) - Fr (Redshirt?)
Haluska (shot at QB first) - Fr (Redshirt?)

Did I miss anything there?

I have seen him play I am excited to have him on board he has ability!

Especially since he is a walk on!

2679 you also forgot Suess. But, he's having some back issues, obviously Stanzi is gone after next yr. If Weinke decides to leave, Derby moves to another position, Vier doesn't work out at QB, we're pretty thin in a hurry. But, the common thread about all of these guys is that they're athletes and can play multple positions. And, a walkon doesn't cost you anything. I see it as a win win situation! Best of luck to all of the young men.

Blake will get a shot to learn the system. Thankfully, he chose not to go the JUCO route (ISU) like his brother, so he should hit the ground running.

Welcome aboard.

Ah, you're right, I forgot about Seuss.

Ferentz mentioned starting Veir at QB (starting meaning he'd start out his career as a QB with a potential move coming later) but never made the same distinction about Derby that I can recall. All I remember hearing is that he had shown marked improvement from one summer to the next and it sounds like he'll get a chance to follow our two RS sophs. Hopefully he'll redshirt next year to give you two years as the starter if he stays at QB!

I'll be surprised if Vier doesn't end up being a Tight End (from seeing him play in high school)

Haluska is a very nice athlete. He could potentially make noise at a few spots ... however, it obviously makes sense that he'd try to get a shot at QB first. Frankly, I wouldn't be shocked if he were able to hop Derby in the QB competition. That would be cool ... because then Derby could move to a position where he'd be able to shine even more at.

Did you just call him Tim Tebow?

He only benches 225. Peanuts

Having one brother at ISU and one at Iowa, was it a tough choice for him to make? Glad to have him around..
