Black & Gold Hawkeye Koolaide...Hey Koolaide!!

It's time to set up that giant black & gold Hawkeye circus tent including a sideshow with Wisky women doing freaky things, a giant Herky on stilts knawing on chunks of cheese while rocking to AC/DC's Back in Black. It's the Hawkeye koolaide stand. Get your koolaide!! Here's a big glass for you:

1) Home game @ Kinnick Stadium & Iowa's 1st national TV game this year
2) Wisconson feeling good coming off big home game effort vs. highly rated traditional power Cornhuskers. To me, the Shuckers look very similar to last years team that beat on weak teams early and crapped it out late when the competition improved.
3) Large hostile noisy packed stadium crowd of 70,000. Wisconson has not played any tough road games this year. Wisky lost to Northwestern in their toughest road game & were not as dominant on the road. Biggest crowd in road games was 40,000?
4) Wisconson is very one dimensional, they run the ball. The Hawks have proven they can stop the run or stop the pass, but doing both this year with young linebackers has been a problem. Iowa can slow down Wisky's running game.
5) Wisconson will have had no bye week to scheme for Iowa. The Hawks last 4 games were against teams coming off a bye week. Minnesota & Maryland & Illinois likely targeted those home games as must win games.
6) Iowa has been favored in every game this year but are big underdogs this week. Iowa plays their best football & Kirk does his best coaching when they are the underdog.
7) Wisconson has been prone to turnovers - four turnovers in two games, three turnovers in two games, multiple two turnover games, with only one clean game.
8) Iowa matches up well with Wisconson in the trenches.
9) Wisconson has been slow starting while Iowa is close to leading the nation in scoring 1st quarter points this year. Iowa has also proven they can burn clock with time consuming drives. Wisky's not a quick strike/comeback type team.
10) Wisconson has played an easier schedule than Iowa with all home games. Is Nebraska really any good? Wisky handled Maryland at home. Iowa should have beaten Maryland. Northwestern wooped Wisconson & highly rated Notre Dame too. Iowa crushed Northwestern. Iowa crushed Purdue & Illinois while Wisconson struggled with both. November is when the Hawkeye players & coaches perform best every year.
11) The "Big 10 power committee" has to figure Iowa needs this game for a bigger & better Bowl game invitation = more Big Ten Conference $$$$$ & power = no bias this week = fairly officiated game = best team wins. GO HAWKS!!

I agree with a lot of your points except #9 Wisky not being a quick strike team.

Gordon struck fast and often this year, last week, against Maryland and jNW. Like Tevaun Coleman, Gordon could go the distance in 9 seconds or fewer at any time.

But I always think the hawks can win. If they tackle well and play great contain defense plugging gaps I think they stop Gordon early, hit him often and hard and dont let him or the other guy get untracked.

I think Wisky might try to throw a lot of play action early to strike quick.

Wisky's D is #1 overall in several categories and top 5 in nearly all. But they have faced the #119,111,110,108,98,87,77,33 (Bowling Green),31 (Nebraska) +FCS W. IL Offenses which is an Ave rank #86 in yds. Ave rank of #75 in pts. This gives me hope Iowa can score some points anyway....I still think we have to play out of our minds

last yr vs Wisky Iowa trailed 14-9 with less than 7min to go in the 4th. Two Iowa INTs deep in our territory gave Wisky ball on 20 and 25 and two very short fields that blew the game open

The key to the game is the Hawks D locking down their gaps, and not arm tackling Gordon.

Iowa has yet to beat a team with a winning record and they lost to ISU. Don't go getting to confident.

Careful Sparky, all of your forum posts have become stale, boring, predictible and offer nothing new. Oh the irony...

#1 If Iowa plays it's typical- predictable game plan then turn out the lights early. Not much to plan and prepare for when you play Iowa. Expect to see the Hawks throwing the ball allot today (Is that even possible ?) if our Off line can hold long enough before the pocket collapses and our QB's get crushed. Nothing to lose, we can't run against this massive Wisky line either. So then how does #2 come into play..

2# Kirk's Iowa teams always play well when expected to get their Arss kicked. (Your #6)

Which will it be.
