I think the only logical 13th is ND, and then the "filler" team is Missouri. I don't see it happening though and expect the Big ten to sit at 12 even if there are 16 team conferences elsewhere.

Obviously, Notre Dame. Missouri is hardly filler, though. Move NW to Leaders with the addition of ND. Move Wisconsin back to Legends and add Mizzou. Call it a day. There's no rule that says a super-conference must be 16.

I am starting to think the Big 10 stays at 12.

Agreed, i think it's funny that people think that Delaney is going to all of a sudden add teams just because other conferences are trying to expand. It's the Big 10, when has the conference ever had to follow another conference's lead?

Some of the schools on this poll would not even get a look by the Big Ten due to academics. There is no way Oklahoma, Okla St, Kansas St, Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, West Virginia, or Arkansas would get consideration for membership into the Big Ten. While I doubt AAU membership is the deciding factor (see Nebraska) you have to be strong academically to be considered for the Big Ten. Others, like Iowa State, would never get considered due to of TV footprint.

I think these are the realistic options for the Big Ten:

Kansas
Missouri
Texas
Rutgers
Maryland
Notre Dame
Virginia
Vanderbilt

Also even if Rutgers joins the ACC I would still keep them on the list. The Big Ten will eventually want more exposure in the East and the amount of money that a school can make in the Big Ten will offset the 20 million dollar exit fee. Even though you hear a bunch of movements being made and nothing from the Big Ten they are still the biggest player when it comes to conference expansion. They lead the way when it comes to TV revenues and academic funding for research institutions.

I think this is about the best post I've seen on any board regarding potential Big 10 expansion. Your list of potential schools is pretty much spot on.

I think once the SEC picks up WVU, and UConn and Rutgers go ACC, ND will call Delany

Part of me thinks ND might go ACC. Think about it...the ACC would be much easier for ND to compete in and get into the BCS. In the Big Ten, they'll have to go through Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan, PSU, Iowa and MSU

Because it is a collusion process among the top 4 conferences. This isn't just a B1G issue.

I was pretty sure the B1G was going to steal from the ACC. But now, I think they will stay with what is available from Big East/Big 12 breakup along with ND.

People talk about teams having to produce 30 million$. That isn't accurate with the new superconference system, because of the additional revenues that system will create. You just need to requisite 16 teams to participate. Conferences don't want to take an absolute dog. But they will take a school that doesn't make money like all the other schools.

This is all just completely made up. Got one link to back this up?

Seriously, a link for collusion? Do you know the meaning of collusion?

Here is what I know and how I know it. I am involved with a non-BCS FBS school and conference. I heard last year (before it was originally announced by the PAC or Texas) about the PAC 16. However, I heard this from SEC people. They were not talking about HAVING to make moves because of the PAC, they were talking about making moves in consort with the PAC. They also were talking about life post-NCAA.

Last week, people from my conference were also in discussion with other non-BCS conferences about possibly creating a national alliance in football.

The reason for the collusion is because these schools know they need to take care of a necessary number of schools as to protect against legal threat. They basically can't make the choices look completely capricious.

This actually is why when I first heard about it, I raised the issue of possibly having to go to 18 team conferences, so as to not knock out current BCS teams. But it appears they will get around that by merely letting the Big 12 and Big East dissolve. Then they will make the final post-season play arrangement.

One thing that will come of this is that the B1G will be the only major conference with B1G in it's name again.

Ha if this was all planned out ahead of time by the pac 10 and sec they are either pulling off one of the greatest acting jobs ever because it sure as hell looks like no one had any sort of well thought out plan to get to 16 teams. Their plan to have Texas create the longhorn network to break up the B12 was brilliant.

Your other parts need to tell that part it's wrong. FSU, Miami, and Va Tech are (usually) good, too ... ACC no cakewalk for ND. And certainly value in maintaining games with Michigan, MSU, and Purdue.

It's happening way easier than you think. Have you heard of a bidding war for one school? Has anything actually come to pass that wasn't originally thought to be the case? Things haven't happened immediately, but they are moving forward as expected. Beyond that, the PAC has said they could work through Texas' network issues.

So yeah, still think they're all in collusion?

That would be really cool to get all those new B1G fans. Would really help the conference. Now we just need to get the ball rolling.
