Yes, Eric May did a very good job defending Turner, who still managed to ''turner'' it on the last 3 minutes of that game in Carver to help lead them to the win. Eric could be Iowa's version of Purdue's kramer, hopefully. Kramer guards the best perimeter guy on every team, like taking mcCamey yesterday in the second half and taking on turner on tuesday...Eric could be a bigger version of kramer.
My top five
Turner- If he finishes strong vs MSU today and the last two weeks, will be National POY...so naturally, would be Big Ten POY. Is a bit of a freak, the good kind...one of those guys who was a six foot point guard as a frosh in HS,then grew 7 inches by his junior year, so has all the skills. Others who have had this happen...Jon Leuer of Wisky..pg in HS,then grew 10 inches..Scottie Pippen, pg/student manager as a frosh at Ark St...then grew 8 inches and became a top 50 alltime player...moral of the story? Always assume you will be a pg,then if you grow...you got skillz.
Lucas- Also injured like Turner, but has recovered pretty quickly and has made many huge shots to win games this year.
Etwuan Moore- really could be a trio award for Hummel and Johnson also...but this year, Moore has made even more clutch buckets than the other two...his turn.
Travon Hughes- Another guy who has shown nerves of steel this year. Also a top defender.
McCamey- has had a pretty amazing closing stretch. Knocking down big shots to win several games, and leads league in assists...not a great defender but has total command on the other end and a great feel for the game with the ball in his hands.
Consideration:
Johnson,Hummel,Battle,Shurna,Sims,Harris,Green,Lighty,Damian Johnson.
