Big Ten - Pac Ten Alliance conspiracy?

Heard this conspiracy theory and wanted to know your thoughts:

What if the Big 'Ten' and Pac 'Ten' form an alliance where they pull out of the BCS and the conference champs play in the rose Bowl every year.
Let's assume the Pac 'ten' gets Tex, A&M, Tech, OK, OK St, and Colo.
and the Big 'ten; gets ND, Neb, and one more.

You would also get matchups Like Neb/Tex, Iowa/Oklahoma, USC/Notre Dame, etc.

The conferences could make so much in their alliance they wouldn't need the BCS.

This puts the SEC in the position of only playing the ACC or Big East Champ in a BCS Bowl.

Talk about blowing up the BCS!

Possible?

That's how college football was done for many, many years so it really wouldn't be an earth shattering move. The problem is that it tends to create split national titles.

Ive often thought a great move could be bringing the Pac 10 in to the BTN.

It would really only work if they went to 16 teams with Texas etc. added to the Pac, and NE teams like Rutgers, Syracuse, Maryland, and ND added to the Big 10. Then you'd finally have a truly NATIONAL college sports network that would pose serious competition with ESPN. The value of the BTN would go up exponentially due to a massive increase in advertising $ on top of all those California/West Coast & Texas TVs, along with the NY/NJ, & Washington & Baltimore TV markets. You call it the "College Sports Network" and play up the fact that viewers won't have to wade through al that pro sports talk that you get with ESPN.

Would be huge, man, huge.
