Big Ten NFL Draft Pick totals last 10 years; Iowa prominent

Yeah. Because that's such a ridiculous question to ask. Is this Mary? Or just "a" mary...

Remind me not to buy stock in your company. "NO...we're not making our numbers, and sales are on the decline. But look how many of our guys have gone on to better jobs!"

Who's the idiot?

Where did I say it wasnt a legit question? All I was getting at was the fact that its been discussed on here ad nauseum. We have debated and people are pretty clear on what side of the line they are in regards to support of KF.

I will agree that allot of those losses in 2008 were flukes that went against Iowa. But part of that was Stanzi not getting any playing time the previous season, where just like last year the starter should have been pulled in blowouts to get the next guy at least acclimated to what a game is like.

Im not saying KF shouldn't be given credit for 09, just like he should be given credit for all the terrible losses the last 3 years. He should also be given credit for beating allot of good teams at the same time.

But, 7 out of the last 8 years he has taken more talented teams and lost games to lesser talented teams. That is a consistent pattern. The one year where it didn't happen, it was only due to two fluke plays.

Last years losses to CMU, ISU ect are no different than all of the other times it has happened.

You might be the only person to think that Stanzi should have played as a RS freshman in 2007. JC was bad but Stanzi wasnt ready.

Definitely don't think Stanzi should have played in 2007, but he should have gotten the job much earlier in 2008, if not during fall camp.

Actually it will fly Jon. That decade look back changes dramatically as 2002, 2003, 2004 fall off the counter. I'm not discrediting KF's accomplishments in those years, as they were a great run and thankfully KF built those teams, but they are getting very distant in the rear view mirror.

Take away 94,95, and 97...and Osbourne's legacy changes quite a bit as well(or insert most coaches that have great runs)....just saying you have to use all the years, including the ones to come...to write the legacy

But i get what your saying and agree.... if things don't improve soon...your point becomes even more valid.

A play that was made by the defense. Its not like Chappell just threw the ball into Sash's hands. The pressure caused the deflection and Sash was in the right spot at the right time.

He was in exactly the right spot to catch an interception that bounced off the backs of like three different players.

Well I think if you look at roughly the same time period I think Iowa's record lines up pretty closely with what the draft numbers indicate. I could be wrong on that though. Iowa has had a lot of good players over the last decade.

Impressive numbers of OL, TE and DB's (mostly safeties). What jumps out is the lack of skill position players (RB, WR, QB), which reinforces what we've known. Iowa has done a very good job of developing talent where development arguably makes the most impact (OL, TE, DL, safety) but it's very difficult to "develop" your way to a NFL-caliber RB, QB or WR.

Who was that other stud DB who played back there with Knight, at that time they thought he might be one of the best in CFB. 96 or 97 ish ?

First of all its pure speculation by either of us.

Second, wasn't ready to what? Wasn't ready to lead the team to wins? Most likely not. Or wasn't ready to come in at the end of blowouts and feel what its like to get tackled and take a few snap and possibly, or probably exposes his issues with holding onto the ball earlier so that he could work on it over the summer and possibly avoid some of those fumbles he had that could have been the difference in all those close games in 08? Ready for that?

How ready do you have to be for that?

In fact I think he might have even taken a couple snaps that year.

Damien Robinson was also drafted that year. Not sure if that's who you're referring to though.
