Iowa is ranked above Wisconson in this week's Power Rankings but below them in the pecking order of the Bowl Projections. Huh?

The "experts' do not think Iowa will return to the Outback
Bowl and I tend to agree with them, based on the new rules under which the
Big Ten gets to pick the slots. "Repeat" bowls will be discouraged

The BTN and Beyond guys think Nebraska is the West division favorite, and that Minnesota is probably in a better position than Iowa.

Minny plays AT Wisconsin and AT Nebraska to end the season. Hmmmmm.

wtf do those guys know....losers.....can't they see that Iowa's gonna run the table and be Nat'l Champs this year?

The BTN is not one sentient borg, but a bunch of individuals. The power rankings were probably created by someone, then the bowl projections made by someone else. Its all opinion.

Honestly I think it's a freaking toss up between Iowa, Nebraska, Minny, and Wisconsin at this point. I'm biased, but when I try to look at it from outside the box I see 4 teams who are all similar. Each one has strengths, and each one has glaring weaknesses. It's crazy to think that Iowa probably has the best passing attack out of all 4 teams, but they certainly don't have the best rushing attack.

Like I said, I'm biased but I really like Iowa's chances because the Hawkeye pass D should be able to make all three of those teams pretty one dimensional. They all have QB's who struggle to throw the ball accurately. They all depend on using the run to set up the pass. Which is funny because that's usually Iowa's philosophy as well, but it just hasn't been that way this year. Melvin Gordon and Abdullah scare me. Especially after what Coleman from Indiana and Johnson from UNI did to the Hawks. The offense is certainly going to need to keep putting up points in order to pull it off.

When I think about the BTN, I think about the number of goofballs that they put on camera. It just blows my mind. Matt Hall needs to be on Bravo! not BTN.

Matt Hall just isn't a football personality. He'd be good at discussing something other than football. I've grown to like Mason though. Hated him at first, probably a little biased from his Goofer days, but I like him now. He's on the radio up here in MN at least once a week.

This is why iowa has the edge over the others in your group. Iowa has capable PASSING QBs. Iowa's defense doesn't have to make the other three one dimensional--they are already. Iowa is one dimensional by choice---and what I mean by that is offensive play calling.

But Iowa can't run so it is a wash.

It's not that Iowa can't run. It's more that Iowa's rushing attack just isn't what we've grown accustomed to. They've struggled in many games this year.

I've been a fan of Weisman because he is a team player and his work ethic is outstanding. However, I do think it's time to make him strictly a short yardage and goal line back. There's value in that. He's pretty damn good in those situations, and he deserves credit for that. He has a knack for getting in the endzone in short yardage situations.

On the other hand, in between the 20's he just isn't much of a threat. Sure he can grind out some 4-5 yard gains that Canzeri can't, but Canzeri has the ability to bust out some 20+ yard gains that Weisman can't. Now Canzeri hasn't really done that much this year, but I think that's mainly because he hasn't been given the opportunity to get into a rhythm. I think it's worth the trade off, and in my opinion Canzeri deserves an opportunity to prove he can be the starter. The coaches keep giving him a carry here or there and then pulling him. How is a RB supposed to find his groove if he's getting carries so randomly?

Iowa fans continue to flock to Tampa.
Then again, the next slot is San Diego, and lots of Iowa fans in that area.

555 I would like to see more of Canzeri too. But I don't think he has been healthy. Danials either

I agree with this. Use Weisman for short yardage or a decoy. And use Canzeri or Parker as the lightning for any time you are looking to gash the defense. Lately I am even ok using Bullock as a third down back as he is a good pass blocker, and can get those 5-8 yards per reception which helps for those 3rd downs. Last week was also the first week I didn't see him dancing in the backfield.

On BTN Live, I find Ray Lucas of RU to be only average in his input. Last nite he said that Iowa settled on Jake and did not do the alternative QB scenario.....did he realize that CJ played in both halves? He says that jake gives Iowa the best chance to win....that is not determined at this point. I like Dinardo. Doug Chapman, nothing special. Stan Jackson, average. I like guys who really do their homework, and I find that college football writers are usually better than these analysts with other jobs during the week. They simply do not have the pulse for what is happening with each program like the beat writer in each town.

Weisman only needs to see the field in the short yardage plays...Even then he seems to be stubmling over his feet lately. There have been a few carries this year where he tripped over his feet or the turf goblins making a cut to the hole.

Canzeri needs to take all of the snaps on 1st and second down if he is healthy....And what happened to Daniels? Is he hurt?

Too many Weisman posts to bother quoting, I think it's more about play design than down and distance for him. If he's met at the LOS, he doesn't tend to run people over, it's usually a couple yards down field when he's got some real momentum and full strides to use. I'd say he's best suited to run when it's a power run and he's got a pulling guard to run behind, or a play that's designed to take advantage of another team's tendencies.

I know there are exceptions to what I say, but I think given his lack of speed it wouldn't make sense to limit his reps to predictable down and distances.

Anybody is better than the Gene Keady days.
