Big Ten = best conference???

Let's say Clemson loses to VA Tech and Colorado wins the PAC 12......Could the BIG get 3 teams into the playoffs ? I realize this hypothetical is far fetched but I would love to see people lose their shit if this happened.

Ok so there is a scenario floating around on Twitter where that happens and Iowa ends up in Miami for Orange Bowl...I completely dismissed it until I read it...he actually has a somewhat legit/plausible argument.

I really want this to happen so bad...... I know it is not but a man can dream.:)

Not believing the hype. Michigan is just not that good. P S U lost to Pitt and needed a miracle to beat O S U. The Big Ten top team isn't as good as others. Bottom not very good. Top 4 teams right now are quite good but not great, especially M. I don't consider PSU in that mix. Wisky will win by double digits.

What conference do you put at top?

What conference is good then? I could break down every conference like that.

ACC:
Clemson lost to Pitt, barely beat Troy, Auburn, NC State and FSU
No other team with less than 3 losses

SEC:
Bama, best team in football
Florida with 3 losses and not that good
Nobody else with less than 4 losses

Pac12:
Washington lost to USC and barely beat a bad Arizona team
Colorado got beat by Michigan handily
Everyone else 3+ losses

Big12
JOKE

If can nitpick any conference. Overall it is a pretty easy call that the B1G was the best overall.

I see it the other way as I think PSU beats Wisky by 10-14.

I am not sure the B1G is the best conference until we prove it during the bowl season but that is problematic because the match-ups may produce a lot of unevenly ranked teams due to how many teams from the B1G are in the playoff and which teams are playing up. Also as usual we will be playing many games in the backyards of our opponents. We've gotten the conference love this year so there will be a target on our backs in marquee games.

I find it hard to believe the conference is better this year than last year as last year's OSU team had 13 guys drafted into the NFL, MSU was strong, Iowa was stronger and Michigan was on the come among others. Last year's OSU would wipe the floor against this year's OSU with Elliott, Bosa, Miller, etc. This year the league is strong in terms of competitiveness outside the league (beat OK & LSU) but it might be a matter of how many guys the SEC and other leagues lost due to graduation, early entree?

I don't. Just don't think Big Ten is better. Very weak NC. No big wins except OSU NC (off the top). I think there is a lot of parody.

My playoff would be

Washington/ CO
Clemson
OSU
AL

Others Considered: Wisky if they win
PSU if they win
OU if they beast OSU. Or OSU
W Michigan

I'm not a big PSU win. I am not counting on them beating Wisky

M is out in my book.

Conferences

SEC, ACC and Pac 10 are about on par with Big Ten.

You left out Pitt beating PSU. The close trivial wins....look at OSU and Wisky.

Florida Wisky would be a great matchup.

C played AT Michigan without a QB if I remember right.

Never count out OU. At least they PLAYED OSU non conference. C played Mich fairly well early before an injury. With their QB and out Boulder......who wins?

I'm saying the the Big Ten is good. Just not better. In a month or so...well know.... At this point I just don't see any of the Big Ten winning it all.

You can do the transitive property with all this stuff. Who has bigger OOC wins than the B1G?

I think right now that Iowa is better than last year.....

I don't think Bowl games mean Shat as far as how good conferences are. Some teams all have to "play up", some get to "play down" relatively speaking as far as matchups go. Plus when you have a month between games, it really isn't the end all beat all of indicators.

Everyone is different tho, some think the bowl results determine how good teams are, I'm just not one of them.

I think right now that Iowa is better than last year.....

I am not sure about that. Maybe be it's close but we also have a passing attack that's big game is breaking 100 yards this year. Multiple games down the stretch around 50-60 yards.

The punting game is better for sure.

I think right now that Iowa is better than last year.....

If you are referring to the end of last year. Yes, I would say Iowa is a bit better than after the Nebraska game last year. Definitely better than after the Michigan State game. Both Iowa and Michigan State were beat to hell after the conference championship. I would say however, that last years Wisconsin game was probably the high water mark for Iowa, the last two years.

That card and the injury card can never be played in a discussion like this because it presupposes that other conferences don't have injuries or players graduating.
