Big East...what a joke.

So the Big East is going to announce membership additions of such EASTERN schools like Boise State and San Diego State. This reaks of desperation so bad. I would love to see the expenses for when the UConn girls swim team has to fly all the way out to San Diego for their conference meet. This idea is terrible, just terrible...:eek:
 
Maybe they want the conference name to be more literal. Like places in the United States are a part of a "big" chunk of land that is "east" of something.
 
lol I'm hoping that it is only football. I don't know how they can send volleyball and field hockey teams from coast to coast all year.
 
It is a horrible football conference that Boise will probably roll through. Totally agree. It is basically "The Big Whatever It Takes To Get A BCS Bid Conference."
 
On top of being a s*** conference, it should be all sports or nothing. You shouldn't allow schools to only do a sport (FOOTBALL) in order for the conference to maintain their 7 team minimum to keep an automatic BCS bid. If schools are seriously looking at realignment it should make sense geographically, not just benefical to a certain sports program (BSU football bcs berth).
 
I think the demise of the Big 12 was a little over-exaggerated by everyone. It was the Big East that was always doomed to failure. I don't think this will be a lasting solution.

once they lose their AQ status boise will be out for sure and it will be extremely hard for the others to justify the travel expenses

The only thing that saved the Big 12 was that the Big 10 and the Pac 12 decided not to expand all the way to 16.

This ain't over yet - I'm not sure the Big 12 still exists in 5 years.
 
Its the Big East (east of Hawaii) Conference. They must be very desperate for teams and their future if they keep poaching teams from the west coast.

Ding, ding, ding! It blows my mind how that ****** conference gets an auto-bid. This BCS system is soooo messed up and flawed that it's just turning into an absolute joke now.
 
What an awful conference full of leftovers. I hope automatic BCS bids are done soon anyway, then we won't have to worry about a garbage 7-5 UConn team getting a bid because they were champs of the Garbage Conference.

you're right, but at the same time then we'll all be super ****** when the SEC gets 4 teams or something ridiculous like that.
