Big 10 Power Rankings...

Didn't take it as an attack at all. Just wasn't sure what you were getting at since Michigan and MSU were the top 2 teams in the league, currently undefeated.

We had a tough time with Nebraska at home. Lost on the road at Wisconsin. Michigan beat Wisconsin on the road AND beat Minny on the road. I think both of those wins are better than our win at OSU and beating Minny at home. The good thing is we'll see in 2 short days just how these two teams stack up.

Ohio State has lost 1 home game all season. That win was and will continue to be 1 of the top road wins in the conference until the point in time that someone else is able to win at Ohio State IMO.

I think it would be interesting to see peoples final B1G conf projections. That's a little more challenging.

I'm not going to project each team's record but this is how I see the final standings.

Michigan State
Iowa
Wisconsin (because of schedule)
Michigan
Ohio State
Minnesota
Purdue
Indiana
Nebraska
Illinois
Penn State
Northwestern

The eye test should tell us all we need to know. Who beat who where has no say in this, unless you're a fan of constantly requiring hindsight to validate anything and everything. We've been consistently great, cupcakes, high ranked, low ranked, no ranked, home, road, ahead, trailing. No matter what we're putting up a ton of points and have been quite dominating at times. You get what they show you. Who Michigan beat and where matters a whole lot less than their inconsistent, oftentimes bad play.

Even if a team wins where you lose, it means nothing. Kansas played far worse in their ISU game than we did in ours, but they got a win and we didn't. Why? Don't know. It's not because they played better. Matter of fact, they were rather sloppy and showed little discipline while we were crisp and cohesive. Them and their fans brought a lot more energy when they faced us and it allowed for the difference. Don't get me started on what *may have been* different in our game at Wisconsin than when Michigan played them.

Right now they're pretty hot and they're at home. Lucky for us so are we and we're easily the better and deeper team. When you face a superior team you want them to be flat. We aren't. I'd much rather face a road game than a superior team who is playing lights out. And again, no situation has given us problems. Well, double-digit leads have, but we'll take our chances with one of those. Iowa 81-72.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda ... as much as UM should have lost at Neb, should they have beaten AZ? Every team, especially Iowa, has them; it's what's keeping the conference race, and to a lesser degree, the national race, wide open this season.

This next 7 days will clear up the picture even more as the top 3 teams in the league play each other. As of today, it's Michigan, MSU and Iowa (Sorry, UM's win at Wisky is more impressive than Iowa's at OSU. Hell, Iowa's 2nd half beat down of Minny is turning out to be more impressive than the win at fOSU.) IF Hawks can exorcise the Crisler demons on Wednesday, they move up to #2. If they beat MSU next Tuesday, they move up to #1, with the winner / loser of MSU - Michigan taking their place in the pecking order.

It's that simple.

If IOWA can steal away a game on the road at MICH then they will have earned the right to the #2 spot.

Can they win it? yes, will they win it? We will see.

IMHO if they get a few lucky breaks and bounces to go there way and a few FTs to go down, they will win this game.
