Big 10 Network

Is it me or is it going to be 2 years in a row the spring game is not on BTN? Also it just seems that no Iowa teams are being shown on the network?

Go Hawks..

If you have BTN, most service providers have access to BTN2Go (not BTNPlus). BTN2Go is free n that case

The Big Ten Network coverage of live sports is pretty terrible, honestly. Say what you will about the SEC, their network or ESPN, but that channel has excellent content and live sports coverage.

Even if it's not a spring game in the traditional sense, Iowa's spring practices are content that people will watch, record and talk about. It's a pretty easy and cheap production as well.

The Big 10 Network has long missed the boat on things like having daylong live coverage of football signing day, going more in depth on spring ball. M-F daytime schedules should be nothing but football replays during the summer, when nothing else is going on. Instead, they absolutely love showing the 2006 Iowa/MSU game and other non-great games from Big 10 past.

I'd rather they don't show Iowa's Spring Scrimmage. It'd be embarrassing to see the 1,500 fans in Kinnick compared to a near-capacity crowd at Nebraska, Ohio State, etc.

BTN struggles quite a bit to say the least. I keep hoping they will get smarter about their programming but it never happens.

The anchors and analysts blow chunks too. I guess you can't expect much from a network that gets ESPN's flunkies who couldn't catch on anywhere else.

Hats off to anyone who can listen to Dave Revsine talk through his nasal passage for more than 30 seconds, and am I the only one who thinks Howard Griffith has a year-round, mother of all head colds?

Last but certainly not least you have DiNardo, who looks and sounds like Jerry Sandusky's identical twin brother. I know it's not his fault, but good lord. How can people pay attention to that guy?

Whomever is running that ship has missed it and continues to. It's so bad. There are so many good games they could replay yet they show the same dang ones all the dang time... What's the point of that? They could have recruiting shows... There's just so much potential for that network yet they just try and be as bland pointless and boring as possible. I literally only have the channel to watch the times that Iowa is playing on it live pretty much...

First, the "classic" games have some limitations. BTN didn't even broadcast until 2007, so anything prior they definitely don't own rights. You can bet companies that DO own them are NOT quick to give them up so easily. It might be worth it for some games, but certainly not all.

Also, a lot of the games we would "want" were not the highest-quality productions (some were "regional" only, others may have only had "local" production).

Revsine, Pizzo, et. al. are a LOT more palatable than 99% of the ESPN crews. And they are a LOT more objective. They don't "rank" on non-B1G teams after each poll, or cry "bias" or look for any excuse to tear those teams down. Try getting "objectivity" from ESPN.
