Bielema is better than KF

KFz may be great when it comes to developing players and young men. But once the ball is kicked off he's a below average football coach.

But KF demonstrates above average loyalty to inferior staffers. *cough* KOK *cough*
So we have that going for us...which is something... :p

It's like a Christmas present in November.

This artifact, as far as we know, this is the oldest 'Learn The Game' on HN. Experts disagree on who actually coined the phrase.

Tradition has it, that an unknown poster used it as a parting shot when discussing the difference between a bubble and jail break screen / or perhaps it was inside zone versus outside zone. Oral tradition also has it that the forum immediately mocked and jeered the poster, who as far as we know, was last seen wearing women's clothing running to catch a south bound train in Red Oak, Iowa.

Bielema is 32-29 in his last 5 years. That doesn't sound like national championship caliber. And before you say, oh it's the SEC, it's STILL 29 losses! Lol that equates to zero chance in hell at a championship.

I can see why coach Ferentz is regarded so highly by so many Hawkeye fans. He saved the program from plummeting back into the 70s. It was surely headed in that direction at the end of a great run led by coach Fry. A lot of fans remember those agonizing years and KF was the guy who kept the ball rolling. He did it with a bare knuckles idea of what he thinks football is all about. It has worked for him for the most part too. Let's be honest, 100% of Hawkeye fans loved it. He wins 70% of his games at a place where that has been very hard to do over the last 60 years. Since the 50s, only 3 coaches have ever done it. His methods can and will continue to do that, if that's what you want.

What I can't understand is. Why some people actually thought their would be some kind of change in KF's philosophy after last year. And then he ran a few out of the ordinary plays at the beginning of this year. The fake punt, man that one got some people fired up. You can't expect an old football coach to adopt a new philosophy. Especially if they don't want to and it works 70% of the time. He's not going to try and change what he thinks football is.

Learn the game? In Kirk Ferentz's case, it matters in which decade you learned the game.

The Michigan game last week was one of KF's best coached games. It worked out because it was executed entirely in KF's comfort zone. For whatever reason Harbaugh channeled his inner Ferentz and the Wolverines paid for it with a close loss. That came a week after Franklin executed an entire game outside of KF's comfort zone resulting in a huge Penn State victory. Last year Newkirk reared his head and I guess KF was to busy doing something else to put down that rebellion until November. It's the tale of two Ferentzs,.. And I'm posting on a 5 year old bumped thread. Weird. As for Belima? My comment is that Alvarez is the best AD in the B!G.

That just isn't true. Fry's last 2 recruiting classes were well into the top 25. Fry's down turn was no different than KF's last down turn take away 2015. Fry lost assistants that were hard to replace. KF has had struggles even with the SAME coaching staff.

I'm not a KF hater, nor am I a fan. HF with agonizing years?

1997 HF 7 wins. In those wins they averaged 50 points a game.

In 98 with all going on, he was 3-3 before 5 loses by a lot.

In 96 NINE wins including 4 out of last 5 averaging 33 points per game

1995 8-4. 4 game losing streak against #4, #5 on the road, #19 and an Illinois team with one of the best defenses of all time (no offense).

1994 5-5-1 with a 5 game losing streak in the middle. The Hawks average 41 points in the 5 wins.

1993 6-6 with a 5 game losing streak before winning 4 of 5.

1992 5-7 but did hang 56 on a NW team tied for 6th in Big

1991 10-1-1

1990 8-4 hanging 45, 54, 56, and 63. Oh ya they played Miami which finished #3 at Miami's Orange Bowl.

KF saved the program? Seriously. These were the "bad years"

Then who is going to save Iowa from KF?
