Beth needs to pull the trigger

Whether he stays or not the program needs an overhaul. How do you build an roster when NIL plays such an important part? You do it with defense. Offense is "sexy" and offensive players are going to cost you. That said your hard core defenders are most likely going to be much cheaper.

Do I think that Fran has it in him to make defense a focal point? No, but IMO its his only chance. We don't have the NIL to recruit head to head with most "basketball" schools, so in my opinion, we go after the blue collar players that don't put up major points and use the money what money we do have to lock down a few scorers. I think it's our only chance, but we've learned the hard way that outscoring our opponents isn't getting the job done and defense has to take center stage and I'd be willing to bet those players are out there with a much cheaper price tag.
Sounds like our football recruiting strategy.

Gunslinger Goetz pulls the trigger on the Fran train. End of the road, was a good ride Franny. Ride off into the sunset of retirement and enjoy the kids and eventually them grandkids. Your service here is ended.......................................................................thank you!

The sooner Beth acts the better. The new coach can then meet with current players and try to avoid a mass defection.

Watching a Podcast from Chad on youtube, I don't know what time this podcast started but Chad L. just said Beth has come out with an official confirmation.

At the end of the day, it is ALWAYS about money.

When boosters and high-level donors see waning interest and fan support, and empty seats, the writing is on the wall. Clearly, those with the power behind the scenes didn't see a path for Fran to elevate the program any further.

Wow, a person close to the Indiana program is saying the Drake coach is still under strong consideration for the Indiana position.

Maybe Iowa should take a close look at the Drake coach. Indiana is a basketball school and they are not going to just want anyone.

LET THE GUESSING GAMES BEGIN

As quick as this went down with BETH it would be logical to think she has already been looking around.

DeVries will be the obvious candidate here, but getting him could be quite costly. Regardless, I have a hard time seeing him turning down any offer from Iowa.

Two coaches that I hope Beth at least gives serious consideration are, Jerrod Calhoun, Utah State, and Mark Byington, Vanderbilt. Both are solid up-and-coming coaches that would be great fits.
