"Best win of my life"

Steve Williams says this was the best win of his life. He also said "It's the greatest week of my life caddying, and I sincerely mean that.''

Really? You caddied for Tiger while he won 13 majors, yet this tournament is the greatest week of caddying? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Way to take away the attention from Scott and put it all on yourself and Tiger again Williams.

Maybe now you understand why Tiger ended the relationship. These caddies act like they "won" the tournament. Yes, they help the player, but no more than the swing coach, the wife, the golf psychologist, the agent, etc. At the PGA level, it is a team effort.

you don't have any idea what's going on in the Tiger/Stevie Williams world. He looked genuine and if he feels that way...more power to him. Besides Tiger Woods was a fraud and probably still is. JMHO

I don't care how genuine he seemed, no world championship is better than helping your golfer win a major. Sour grapes for Tiger letting him go! Woods may have been a fraud off the course, but certainly not on it. His career is not over. So he shot 1 over on a hard course after only hitting balls for a few days prior to the event. He will be back contending soon!

Sometimes you just need a fresh start. I suspect that it was a mutual decision and that both Woods and Williams are grateful to be starting "fresh".

12 years is a long time to caddy for one player.....

That's fine if it was the best week of his life, but he doesn't have to hit a single shot or make a single putt. It's a pretty stupid comment IMO. He mentioned having nerves on the last day, and I buy that. But he doesn't have to play. He wanted to win to shove it in Tiger's face, and he sorta did that. But Adam won the tournament, not Steve Williams. Get over yourself dude.

Caddies should be like baseball umps. When they're doing their job right, they are not noticed.

Let's hope not...the media was bad enough when the guy was winning. He was the only player they showed on TV. Now that he plays like an average or below average pro golfer, they almost still show his every shot even when he is completely out of the tournament.

Oh the media does show the leaders and winners on occasion if they can break away from Woods. If Woods starts winning again, the rest of the tour pros might as well go home because they will never be on TV...it will be "Tiger Woods Tournament" regardless of what tournament he is playing in.

If there is a god, let's all hope that it doesn't favor Woods...

I don't follow golf, but I think it's kind of funny.

Normally a caddie shouldn't say that, but considering that Tiger just fired him, I can understand him being pretty happy right now.

Agreed. Williams has every right to be angry and upset over the bind Tiger put him in when word of his catting around got out and then having his 12-year loyalty rewarded with getting unceremoniously fired. But just STFU now, Steve. You didn't hit one drive or make one putt; you simply carried a not so heavy bag and gave your golfer advice on club selection or shots. I'm sure Scott appreciated the way you took the spotlight off him and his victory.

How is Tiger a fraud? He is a fraud when it comes to being a good husband? Absolutely.
Last I checked he has won 13 (or whatever) majors. He can golf and that is what he is on this planet to do. In the golfing world he is no fraud.
Steve Williams is where he is because of Tiger. I had no clue who the dude was before he started carrying Tigers clubs. That means something since he has carried the clubs of Greg Norman (The Shark), Raymond Floyd, and Peter Thomson.
Stevey needs to recognize what Tiger has done for him and his family.

Regardless of how he feels (and as I said in another post he has every reason to be p*ssed off at his former employer), it was not a smart move by Williams to spout off on national TV. By doing so he jeopardizes a new employment relationship with an up-and-coming golfer who just won a tournament. Savor the win, shut up, get ready to get your new guy ready for the next tournament.

Agree, never been a fan of "Stevie". His ego is bigger than most pro golfer on tour.

Adam Scott is a very good golfer, but he is not an up-and-coming golfer. He is 31 years old (that is only 4 years younger than Tiger). He has already had to go to the long putter, which does not bode well for putting over the long haul (name one major winner that used a long putter).

Getting fired when he did let Williams hook up with Scott. If Tiger had waited until the end of the year it is likely Scott would have moved on and got a permanent caddie. So in a wierd sort of way (by no means intentionally) Tiger may have done Stevie a favor.

From what I understand, Stevie voiced his desire to caddy for Adam Scott "on the side" until Tiger came back at full strength.

As an employer, what would you do? Let your long time caddy double dip, or show him the door?

See ya, Stevie. You hold no leverage here. Not long ago, every caddy in the world would have loved to be working with Tiger. Right now, at least half of them would still love to. Lots of applicants to choose from.

I like that he poked at Tiger but it's also apparent that he's completely full of himself. I like Adam Scott so rooting for him may become impossible if they continue to stick a microphone in Stevies face.
